David Murray (1842 – 2 October 1928) was a Scottish lawyer, antiquarian and bibliophile. A successful solicitor in Glasgow for over 60 years, he wrote widely on the law, and also on archaeology. For the last 30 years of his life he held various offices in the governance of the University of Glasgow. Early life and family Murray was the son of the Glasgow writer (i.e., solicitor) David Murray, of the firms Murray & Galloway, and Murray & Smith, and Ann Hunter Guthrie. In 1872, Murray married the New York-born Frances Porter Stoddard. They had three daughters: Sylvia Winthrop Murray (19 August 1875 – 17 January 1955); Eunice Guthrie Murray (21 January 1878 – 26 March 1960) and one son, Anthony Stoddard Murray (16 March 1880 – 23 March 1918). Anthony served during World War I as a Second Lieutenant of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. David Murray (September 5, 1953 – October 23, 1990) was an alpine ski racer. He was noted for being a member of the Crazy Canucks, the Canadian downhill racers of the late 1970s and early 1980s known for their fearless (and sometimes reckless) racing style. His teammates in the group were Ken Read, Dave Irwin, and Steve Podborski. Biography Murray took up ski racing relatively late, at the age of 15. As part of the Crazy Canucks, Murray was considered the team mediator. He earned three podium finishes including two second-place finishes behind fellow Crazy Canuck Ken Read. In 1979, he was ranked third in the world in downhill, but he never won a World Cup event. At the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, he finished tenth in the downhill. Murray retired from competitive skiing following the 1982 season. After retiring, he returned to British Columbia, becoming the director of skiing at Whistler Blackcomb and founding the Dave Murray Ski School in 1988. It has since become ... David Anthony Murray (29 May 1950 – 26 November 2022) was a West Indian and Barbadian cricketer who played in nineteen Tests and ten ODIs from 1973 to 1982 as a wicketkeeper. Murray, a son of the West Indian batsman Sir Everton Weekes, often courted controversy. A marijuana user from a young age, he was almost thrown out of the 1975–76 tour to Australia, only saved by the intervention of the sympathetic senior player Lance Gibbs. His drug habit was reportedly fuelled by a tour of India where he found drugs easily available: "A waiter at the team hotel started the whole thing. David Murray (28 December 1909 – 5 April 1973) was a British racing driver from Scotland. He participated in five Formula One World Championship Grands Prix, debuting on 13 May 1950, and also founded the Ecurie Ecosse Scottish motor racing team, based at Merchiston Mews in Edinburgh. Murray was a chartered accountant by profession and raced an English Racing Automobiles, ERA and subsequently a Maserati 4CL and 4CLT, Maserati 4CLT both domestically and in European events, before forming Ecurie Ecosse in 1952. He also participated in rallies and hill-climbs. After one World Championship event, for Ecosse, Murray retired as a driver to concentrate on running the team. Ecurie Ecosse won the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Le Mans 24-hour race in both 1956 24 Hours of Le Mans, 1956 and 1957 24 Hours of Le Mans, 1957 each time with a Jaguar D-Type.
