David Owen Mackay (March 24, 1932 – July 29, 2020) was an American jazz pianist, singer-composer with roots in the works of Art Tatum, Bud Powell, and Bill Evans, who favored the standards of the 1940s and 1950s and the bossa novas of Luíz Eça, Antonio Carlos Jobim, and João Gilberto when performing.Biography by Rolf Gompertz, Feb., 1974 Biography Mackay was born in Syracuse, New York. David McKay (born 5 November 1949) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Carlton Blues The Carlton Football Club, nicknamed the Blues, is a professional Australian rules football club that competes in the Australian Football League (AFL), the sport's top professional competition. Founded in 1864 in Carlton, an inner suburb of Mel ... during the 1970s. In 1970, in just his second season of VFL football McKay won a premiership with Carlton and was voted as best on ground in the grand final. David John Mackay (1933 – 2014) was a British architect and partner in MBM, an architecture firm based in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. He was mostly active in Catalonia. Biography David John Mackay was born on 25 December 1933 in Eastbourne, Sussex, England. His father was a "colonial administrator" in India and Ghana, and his parents mostly lived abroad. Mackay was the youngest child in the family and attended boarding schools in England, Ireland and Scotland. In 1957, he married Catalan Roser Jarque, whom he met in London. In 1958, Mackay and Roser moved to Barcelona after college. David MacKay VC (23 November 1831 – 18 November 1880) was a Scottish recipient of the Victoria Cross (VC), the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to United Kingdom and Commonwealth forces. Life Born at Alterwall, Howe, Lyth, Scotland, the son of a farm labourer, he enlisted in the 93rd Highlanders (which became the 93rd Sutherland Highlanders and ultimately the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders) on 23 December 1850 and served in the Crimean War. David William Donald Mackay (born 1957) is the Chief Pilot of Virgin Galactic, a commercial astronaut and a former RAF test pilot. He is the first native-born Scot to visit space. David Lawrence McKay (September 30, 1901 – October 27, 1993) was the eighth general superintendent of the Sunday School of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) from 1966 to 1971. McKay was a member of the general superintendency of that organization from 1949 to 1971. McKay was born in Ogden, Utah, the oldest son of future LDS Church apostle and church president, David O. McKay. David Lawrence McKay became the second assistant to George R. Hill, the general superintendent of the Deseret Sunday School Union in 1949. In 1952, he became Hill's first assistant, where he served until 1966 when succeeded Hill as general superintendent. McKay was released in 1971 and was succeeded by Russell M. Nelson. In the late 1960s, when his father was president of the LDS Church and ill, McKay often read his father's sermons in general conference. David John Haskins (born 24 April 1957, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England), better known as David J, is a British alternative rock musician, producer, and writer. He is the bassist for the gothic rock band Bauhaus and for Love and Rockets. David McKay (1844–1917) was a member of the Utah State Senate. He was the father of David O. McKay and Thomas E. McKay. McKay was born in Thurso, Scotland. His family joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) in 1850. The family sailed for the United States in 1856, intending to go to Utah Territory. However, due to financial difficulties, they stayed in New York working to earn money for rail passage for two years and then worked an additional year in Iowa to earn enough money to head to Utah. At first they settled in Ogden, Utah, but McKay later took up farming in Huntsville, Utah. He married Jennette Evans, an immigrant from Wales. They were married in the Endowment House on April 9, 1867, with the marriage performed by Wilford Woodruff. From 1881 to 1883, McKay served a mission for the LDS Church in the British Isles. David McKay (14 May 1921 – 26 December 2004) was an Australian journalist and prominent motoring identity. While most well known as a journalist, specifically as a motoring writer, McKay was also a prominent figure in motor racing as both a driver and a race team owner. That team, Scuderia Veloce, was the first Australian-based professional racing team, and in addition to furthering McKay's own racing career also furthered the careers of many young racing drivers including Spencer Martin, Brian Muir and Greg Cusack amongst others. One of McKay's first forays into competitive motorsport was following the purchase of the ex-Dick Cobden MG TC, known as The Red Cigar. The single-seat, aluminum-bodied racer with Maserati style lines quickly propelled McKay to on track success finishing as the highest placed MG in the 1952 Australian Grand Prix at Bathurst along with solid wins and placings at events in Gnoo Blas, Nowra and Mount Druitt across the season of 1953.
