David McCann (born 20 June 2000) is an Irish rugby union player who plays in the back row for Ulster Rugby, Ulster He attended Royal Belfast Academical Institution, with whom he won the Ulster Schools' Cup in 2016 and 2017, played club rugby with Banbridge RFC, Banbridge, and joined the Ulster academy ahead of the 2018β19 Ulster Rugby season, 2018β19 season. He won Academy Player of the Year in the 2020 Ulster Rugby Awards. Rugby Union Positions
In the game of rugby union, there are 15 players on each team, comprising eight forwards (wearing jerseys numbered 1β8) and seven backs (numbered 9β15). In addition, there may be up to eight replacement players "on the bench", numbered 16β23. Players are not restricted to a single position, although they generally specialise in just one or two that suit their skills and body types. Benetton Rugby, also known as Benetton Treviso ( or ), is an Italian professional rugby union team based in Treviso, Veneto competing in the United Rugby Championship, the European Rugby Challenge Cup and European Champions Cup. Treviso rugby team was founded in 1932 and has won 15 Italian national championships. The team has been owned by the Benetton clothing company since 1979. 2020β21 Ulster Rugby Season
The 2020-21 season was Ulster Rugby, Ulster's 27th season since the advent of professionalism in rugby union, and Dan McFarland's third season as head coach. Iain Henderson was captain. They competed in the Pro14, the Pro14 Rainbow Cup, the European Rugby Champions Cup and the European Rugby Challenge Cup. The Pro14 season was shortened by the COVID-19 pandemic, with the two South African teams unable to compete and the playoffs reduced to a final between the winners of the two conferences. Ulster finished second in Conference A, qualifying for next season's Champion's Cup. Scrum-half John Cooney (rugby union), John Cooney was the league's leading scorer with 115 points. Banbridge RFC (Banbridge Rugby Football Club) is a rugby union club based in Banbridge, County Down, Northern Ireland, in the province of Ulster. It currently plays in Division 1B of the Energia All-Ireland League after gaining promotion in 2017 and Division 1 of the SONI Premiership. In addition to the senior team, the club fields another 5 adult junior-standard teams, and youth U18, U16 and U14 teams, as well as a large mini & Maxi rugby section, Mixed Ability Rugby Team named The Barbarians, a Girls/ Ladies Section. Formation Late in 1925, a group of former Banbridge Academy pupils interested in the game of rugby, got together to form a team to play Newry. The date of that historic first game was 2 January 1926. Ulster Schools' Cup
The Ulster Schools' Challenge Cup is an annual competition involving schools affiliated to the Ulster Rugby, Ulster Branch of the Irish Rugby Football Union. The Schools' Cup has the distinction of being the world's second-oldest rugby competition, having been competed for every year since 1876. The trophy itself is a three-handled silver cup with a plinth mounted on a large shield. Methodist College Belfast have won the most titles with 39 wins β 37 outright wins and 2 shared. Format The Schools' Cup was reformatted in 2003/04. Previously teams defeated in the first round would enter the Subsidiary Shield competition, teams losing in later rounds would find their season over. All entrants, except those who drew byes, entered in the first round of the competition. It was felt that this could lead to significant mismatches.
