David Masondo
David Masondo (born 11 November 1974 in Vhembe District, Limpopo) is a South African politician. Masondo is the current Deputy Minister of Finance for the Republic of South Africa. Education Masondo attended Wits University, Johannesburg where he studied Arts and graduated with a Master of Arts with Honours. In 2013 he obtained a PhD in Political Economy from New York University, where he wrote a dissertation entitled ''Post-Apartheid Business Nanny State: Case Study of the Motor Industry Development Programme (MIDP), 1995-2010'' under the supervision of Vivek Chibber, Jeff Goodwin, and Steven Lukes. Career David Masondo was the Chief Director for Economic Sectors and Industry; he also served as Chief Executive Officer of the Automotive Industry Development Center at the Gauteng Provincial Government. Enoch Godongwana
Enoch Godongwana (born 9 June 1957) is a South African politician who has been serving as the Minister of Finance of South Africa in the government of President Cyril Ramaphosa since August 2021. He is also the former head of the African National Congress's economic transformation subcommittee in the national executive committee (NEC). Tito Mboweni
Tito Titus Mboweni (born 16 March 1959) is a South African politician who served as Minister of Finance of South Africa in the government of President Cyril Ramaphosa from 2018 to 2021. Mboweni was the eighth Governor of the South African Reserve Bank and the first Black South African to hold the post. He was sworn in as Minister of Finance on 9 October 2018, following Nhlanhla Nene's resignation. Mboweni is a founding member of Mboweni Brothers Investment Holdings and a former international advisor of Goldman Sachs International. Vhembe District Municipality
Vhembe is one of the 5 districts of Limpopo province of South Africa. It is the northernmost district of the country and shares its northern border with Beitbridge district in Zimbabwe and on the east with Gaza Province in Mozambique. Vhembe consist of all territories that were part of the former Venda Bantustan, however, two large densely populated districts of the former Tsonga homeland of Gazankulu, in particular, Hlanganani and Malamulele were also incorporated into Vhembe, hence the ethnic diversity of the District. The seat of Vhembe is Thohoyandou, the capital of the former Venda Bantustan. Limpopo
Limpopo is the northernmost province of South Africa. It is named after the Limpopo River, which forms the province's western and northern borders. The capital and largest city in the province is Polokwane, while the provincial legislature is situated in Lebowakgomo. The province is made up of 3 former homelands of Lebowa, Gazankulu and Venda and the former parts of the Transvaal province. The Limpopo province was established as one of the new nine provinces after South Africa's first democratic election on the 27th of April 1994. Jeffrey Roger Goodwin (born January 28, 1958) is a professor of sociology at New York University. He holds a BA, MA (Sociology) and PhD (Sociology) from Harvard University. His research interests include social movements, revolutions, political violence, and terrorism. He is a past chair of the Comparative and Historical Sociology Section and the Collective Behavior and Social Movements Section of the American Sociological Association (ASA). The underlying argument of his best known book, '' No Other Way Out: States and Revolutionary Movements, 1945-1991'', is that revolutionary movements are not only a response to economic inequality or exploitation, but are also a response to political repression and violence. Steven Lukes
Steven Michael Lukes (born 1941) is a British political and social theorist. Currently he is a professor of politics and sociology at New York University. He was formerly a professor at the University of Siena, the European University Institute (Florence) and the London School of Economics. Life and career Lukes attended the Royal Grammar School in Newcastle upon Tyne, completing his studies there in 1958. Lukes completed his BA in 1962 at Balliol College, Oxford.
