David Mahoney (soccer)
David Mahoney (born April 14, 1981) is an American soccer goalkeeper, who formerly played for the Chicago Fire of Major League Soccer. Mahoney played college soccer at Brown University during the 2001 and 2002 seasons before transferring to Cornell University for 2003 and 2004. During his college years he was prolific in the Premier Development League, playing for Bradenton Academics and Cape Cod Crusaders. In 2005, he played one game for the Western Mass Pioneers. He began his professional career with the Chicago Fire in 2005 as part of the newly formed MLS Reserve Division. He got his first call up after the two other goalkeepers on the Chicago Fire, Zach Thornton and Matt Pickens became injured. He started 3 games in October with a record of 1-1-1 with a 1.33 GAA, 7 saves and 1 shutout (10/01 @ Kansas City). Newton, Massachusetts
Newton is a city in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, United States. It is approximately west of downtown Boston. Newton resembles a patchwork of thirteen villages, without a city center. Matt Pickens
Matt Pickens (born April 5, 1982) is an American retired soccer player who is currently the goalkeeping coach for Nashville SC in Major League Soccer. Career Youth and amateur Pickens initially attended Meramec Community College before playing college soccer for Missouri State University from 2000 to 2003. He also played for Chicago Fire Premier in the USL Premier Development League. Professional Upon graduating, Pickens was drafted 19th overall in the 2004 MLS SuperDraft by the Fire. He was not able, however, to break through a deep lineup of Fire goalkeepers, which initially included Henry Ring and D.J. Countess, and later Zach Thornton. He was loaned out for much of the year to the A-League Virginia Beach Mariners, where he played 290 minutes, conceding only 3 goals. During the latter half of 2006, after an injury to Zach Thornton, Pickens started in goal for the Fire even once Thornton was match fit again.
