David Lowery (born December 26, 1980) is an American filmmaker. His original work ''Ain't Them Bodies Saints'' (2013), starring Rooney Mara and Casey Affleck, was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival. In 2016, he directed the Disney film ''Pete's Dragon'' (2016), a live-action film which he had co-written. It was a new work loosely based on the same original story as the Disney 1977 musical of the same name. In 2017, he directed the drama film ''A Ghost Story'' and in 2018, he directed '' The Old Man & the Gun''. In 2021, he directed the fantasy epic '' The Green Knight''. David Joseph Lowery (born 20 January 1984) is an English football striker who plays for the SWA Sharks of MFL League. Club career Lowery once played for Tottenham Hotspur U-16. After an unsuccessful spell, he arrived back in the north east of England to play for a clutch of local clubs. He joined the Chemfica at the start of the 2009/10 season as their lead target man. Despite an early goal in pre-season, his term with the club ended with no competitive goals due to an achilles injury which has seen him not return to action since. David Charles Lowery (born September 10, 1960) is an American guitarist, vocalist, songwriter, mathematician, and activist. He is the founder of alternative rock band Camper Van Beethoven and co-founder of the more-traditional rock band Cracker. Lowery released his first solo album, ''The Palace Guards'', on February 2, 2011, via the 429 Records label. Biography Personal life and music career Lowery was born in San Antonio, Texas, the son of a career Air Force father. He has described his parents as "a hillbilly and an English working-class woman." His family moved around a great deal during his youth before finally settling in Redlands, California, where he attended high school. He became involved in music as a member of the band Sitting Ducks, who played a mixture of punk and acid rock, along with what Lowery described as "fake Russian-sounding music."
