Dave Lowe (atmospheric Scientist)
David Charles Lowe (born 1946) is a New Zealand atmospheric scientist who was instrumental in setting up the Baring Head atmospheric CO programme in 1972. A researcher and educator, he was one of the lead authors to a 2007 Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report which was recognised with a Nobel Peace Prize. Lowe has worked with others such as Charles David Keeling, to measure the amount of CO in the atmosphere and how this is contributing to climate change, in particular global warming. He is an Adjunct Professor of Atmospheric Chemistry at the Antarctic Research Centre, Victoria University of Wellington. David Anthony Lowe (born 30 August 1965) is an English football coach and former footballer who is a coach at Blackburn Rovers As a player he was a right winger, he made 563 league appearances scoring 133 goals, in a career spanning 17 years. He played in the top five levels of English football. He notably played in the Premier League with Leicester City as well as in the Football League for Wigan Athletic, Ipswich Town, Port Vale, Wrexham and Rushden & Diamonds. He was capped twice by the England under-21s. Following retirement he then turned his hand to coaching, he initially worked for the Professional Footballers' Association before re-joining Wigan as a coach under Paul Jewell. He later spent time with Derby County and took charge of the first team for one game in January 2009. He has since worked for both Manchester United and Tranmere Rovers. David Lowe (1867 – 18 November 1947) was a Scottish socialist activist. Born in Dundee, Lowe moved to Glasgow in his youth, where he worked closely with Keir Hardie, becoming the first assistant editor of the ''Labour Leader'' newspaper. He returned to Dundee in 1888, still working for the newspaper, and becoming the leading figure in the Scottish Labour Party in the city. At the 1892 general election, he was the election agent for James MacDonald's unsuccessful candidacy in Dundee. David Perley Lowe
David Perley Lowe (August 22, 1823 – April 10, 1882) was a representative from Kansas. He graduated from the Cincinnati Law College in 1851 and was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Cincinnati, Ohio. He moved to Mound City, Kansas, in 1861 and continued the practice of law. He was a member of the State senate in 1863 and 1864 and served as a judge of the sixth judicial district 1867-1871. He moved to Fort Scott in 1870 and was elected as a Republican to the Forty-second and Forty-third Congresses (March 4, 1871 – March 3, 1875). He was chairman of the Committee on Mines and Mining (Forty-third United States Congress) but declined to be a candidate for renomination in 1874. He was appointed chief justice of Utah Territory by President Ulysses S. Grant in 1875. David Nicoll Lowe FRSE OBE (1909–1999) was a Scottish botanist and administrator. He served as Secretary to the Carnegie Trust in Dunfermline 1954 to 1970. He greatly improved the relationship between the Trust and its applicants. Life He was born in Arbroath on 9 September 1909. He attended Arbroath High School then won a Kitchener Scholarship to St Andrews University. At university he founded the Mountaineering Club and served as its first President. David Lowe (born 28 February 1960) is a retired butterfly and freestyle swimmer. Swimming career Born in Southern Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe), he represented the United Kingdom at two consecutive Summer Olympics, starting in 1980. At his Olympic debut in Moscow he won the bronze medal in the men's 4×100-meters medley relay, alongside teammates Gary Abraham, Duncan Goodhew, and Martin Smith, clocking 3:47.71. David Fowler Lowe FRSE LLD (11 January 1843 – 17 January 1924) was headmaster of George Heriot's School from 1880 to 1908. Life Lowe was born in Leslie, Fife on 11 January 1843. He was educated locally and then went to the University of Edinburgh where he graduated with an MA around 1864, having specialised in French and German. He began his career teaching English in George Heriot's School then moved to teach French. He left for five years to be Rector of Bathgate Academy, returning in 1880 to succeed Frederick W. Bedford as headmaster. In 1886, following some provisions of the Scottish Education Act, he oversaw the transition of the school from an Endowed School into a more standard Secondary School for Boys. Through this he managed to still maintain the school as a fee-paying school. In 1888 he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh. David Lowe also known as "Uncle Art" is a British composer known for his work on computer games from 1985 to 1998. Lowe got attention by making music with professional synthesizers ( CX5, DX7, RX11 drum machine) for an additional cassette tape distributed with the games Starglider 2 and Carrier Command. His Starglider soundtrack for 16-bit computers (ST & Amiga) was also notable of having 15-second long song (a single sound file) with vocals and synthesizers on both versions. Amiga version's title music used high quality instrument sounds (for then prevailing standards - before tracker music). Lowe composed and recorded the music for '' Frontier: Elite II''.
