David Lake (architect)
David Lake is an American architect and principal in the Texas firm of LakeFlato with Ted Flato. Lake grew up in Texas and received his B.S. in Architecture from the University of Texas at Austin in 1976 where he was a student of Pliny Fisk III. His early work was in sustainable design, building modern versions of sod houses in the Texas panhandle. He began his career at Ford Powell & Carson in San Antonio, Texas. His work continues to be noted for attention to sustainability. Mission is a city in Hidalgo County, Texas, United States. Its population was 77,058 at the 2010 census and an estimated 84,331 in 2019. Mission is part of the McAllen–Edinburg–Mission and Reynosa–McAllen metropolitan areas. Geography Mission is in southern Hidalgo County. Glenbrook is a census-designated place (CDP) on the east shore of Lake Tahoe in Douglas County, Nevada, United States. The population was 215 at the 2010 census. Helotes ( ) is a city in Bexar County, Texas, United States, located on the far northwest side of San Antonio. It is part of the San Antonio-New Braunfels metropolitan statistical area. Its population was 9,030 at the 2020 census. History According to anthropologists, the area was occupied seasonally from about 5,000 BCE by small bands of nomadic Native American tribes in search of food and game. The Lipan Apache moved into the area in the late 17th century and occupied it throughout the 18th century. However, the Lipan were forced from the area in the early 1820s by the Comanche Indians. A small farming and ranching community began to develop in the area shortly after the Texas Revolution in the late 1830s. Government Canyon State Natural Area
First opened to the public in October, 2005, Government Canyon State Natural Area (GCSNA) preserves of rugged hills and canyons typical of the Texas Hill Country.
