David John (Mormon)
David John (29 January 1833 – 24 December 1908) was a leading figure in Utah at the dawn of the 20th century. He served as a stake president in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) and a member of the Brigham Young University (BYU) board of trustees. John was born in Little Newcastle, Pembrokeshire, Wales. He was raised in a Baptist family and studied for the ministry. He joined the LDS Church in 1847. His parents were so opposed to the Church at that time that, on the advice of Orson Pratt, John ended his association with it for a time and continued to study for the Baptist ministry. In 1856 he returned to association with the LDS Church. He was rebaptized on 6 February 1856. John was ordained an elder on 29 March 1856 and in June began to serve as an LDS missionary in various parts of Wales. David "Dai" John (born 24 November 1984 in Bridgend, Glamorgan) is a Welsh former professional snooker player. John is banned from snooker until december 2023 after being found guilty of match fixing by the WPBSA in February 2019. Career Early years John drew attention in 2000 by reaching the quarter-finals at the European Under-19 Championship. His first major success occurred in 2002 when he won the EBSA European Championship after defeating David McLellan 7–2, he continued this success at amateur level for the remainder of the year and reached the final of the IBSF World Under-21 Snooker Championship lost but 9–11 against China's Ding Junhui. For the 2002–03 snooker season John joined the main tour. W. David "Dai" John (birth unknown – death unknown) was a Welsh rugby union and professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1900s and 1910s. David Gwilym John (1884–1958?) was a Welsh cartoonist, best known as the creator of the cartoon character Dai Lossin. Life John was born to Catherine and William John at Pancross in the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales in the early months of 1884. He was the cartoonist for the ''Football Echo'', a Saturday sports paper and was noted for the character he created, Dai Lossin.
