David Jackson Bailey
David Jackson (Jack) Bailey (March 11, 1812 – June 14, 1897) was an American slave owner, politician, lawyer and soldier who served in the United States Congress and fought against the United States in the Confederate Army. Early life and career Bailey was born in Lexington, Georgia, in 1812 and moved to Jackson, Georgia in 1829. After studying law, Bailey was admitted to the bar in 1831 and became a practicing attorney. He was elected to the Georgia General Assembly before he turned the age of twenty-one; however, he was not permitted to serve because of his age. During the Seminole and Creek Wars, Bailey was a company captain. In 1835 and 1847, Bailey served in the Georgia House of Representatives. He also served in the Georgia Senate in 1838, 1849, and 1850. He was a Democratic county convention delegate in both 1839 and 1850, and the secretary of the Georgia Senate from 1839 to 1841. The city of Lexington is the county seat of Oglethorpe County, Georgia, United States. The population was 239 at the 2000 census. Lexington is home to Shaking Rock Park. History Lexington was founded in 1800. That same year, the seat of Oglethorpe County was transferred to Lexington from Philomath. Lexington was incorporated as a town in 1806, and is named for Lexington, Massachusetts. Geography Lexington is located at (33.870351, -83.110916). American Civil War

Robert Pleasant Trippe
Robert Pleasant Trippe (December 21, 1819 – July 22, 1900) was an American politician, lawyer and jurist from the state of Georgia. Biography Trippe was born near Monticello in Jasper County, Georgia, and later moved with his family to an area near Culloden, Georgia. He attended Randolph Macon College in Ashland, Virginia, before graduating from Franklin College at the University of Georgia in Athens in 1839. While at Franklin College, he was a member of the Phi Kappa Literary Society. He then studied law, was admitted to the state bar in 1840 and began the practice of law in Forsyth, Georgia. In 1849, Trippe was elected to the Georgia House of Representatives and held that position until 1852 when he unsuccessfully ran for the United States House of Representatives. In 1854, he ran for the U.S. House again and was elected as an American Party candidate representing Georgia's 3rd congressional district in the 34th United States Congress. Owen was born near the Yadkin River in Wilkes County, North Carolina.
