David William Hughes (born 26 November 1970) is an Australian stand-up comedian, television and radio presenter. He is known for his larrikin personality, drawling Australian accent, and deadpan comedic delivery. David Hughes (Somerset Cricketer)
David Garfield Hughes (born 21 May 1934 at Taunton, Somerset), played one first-class cricket, first-class cricket match for Somerset County Cricket Club, Somerset in 1955. Hughes was a right-handed lower-order batsman and a wicketkeeper, and his single match for Somerset's first team came about because of the (rare) unavailability of the regular wicketkeeper of the 1950s, Harold Stephenson. In the match against Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club, Nottinghamshire at County Ground, Taunton, he took one catch and made one stumping, and contributed two runs to Somerset's second innings after not batting in the first. Hughes played for Somerset's second eleven in the Minor Counties and the Second Eleven Championship over many years, with his final appearance for the side in 1977. He also played Minor Counties cricket for Wiltshire County Cricket Club, Wiltshire in the 1960s. David Hughes (railroad Executive)
David J. Hughes is an American railroad executive. Hughes has worked in the railroad industry for more than 30 years and was a member of Amtrak's senior management since 2002, serving as the company's Chief Engineer under President David L. Gunn. The decision by Amtrak's Board of Directors to fire Gunn on November 9, 2005, saw Hughes named the interim President and Chief Executive Officer until a permanent replacement could be recruited. Hughes was replaced by Alexander Kummant on August 29, 2006. Captain David James Hughes (born 16 April 1899, date of death unknown) was a British First World War flying ace credited with five aerial victories. Military service Hughes was commissioned into the Royal Flying Corps as a temporary second lieutenant (on probation) on the General List on 12 August 1917, and was confirmed in his rank on 30 October. After completing his pilot's training, Hughes became an instructor for a while. He was then assigned to No. 3 Squadron to fly a Sopwith Camel. David Hughes (1785 – 11 April 1850) was a Welsh Anglican priest and writer. Life Hughes was born in 1785. He went to school in Ystrad Meurig, Wales before attending Jesus College, Oxford, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1806 and a Master of Arts degree in 1809. During his time at Oxford, he worked for the Oxford University Press, making corrections for the revised edition of the Welsh Bible that the Press published in 1809. He was ordained and, in 1808, was given a position in the parish of Hirnant, near Llangynog in Montgomeryshire. It appears that he never resided in the parish. David Hughes (1753 – 7 March 1817) was a Welsh clergyman and academic, who served as Principal of Jesus College, Oxford. Hughes was the son of John Hughes of Llanrwst, Denbighshire, and his wife Elizabeth. He was baptised in Llanrwst on 9 May 1753. He matriculated at Jesus College, Oxford in 1770, aged 16, graduating BA in 1773, MA in 1776, BD in 1783, DD in 1790. He became a Fellow of Jesus College in 1774. In the church, Hughes held the following livings: * Rector of Besselsleigh, Berkshire ow in Oxfordshire(1783–1817) * Rector of Llanddoged, Denbighshire (1783–89) * Rector of Yelford, Oxfordshire (1789–1806) Hughes was elected Principal of Jesus College in 1802. David Robert Hughes (born 30 December 1972) is a Welsh football manager and former footballer. As a player, he was a midfielder who notably spent six seasons in the Premier League with Southampton.
