David Hicks
David Matthew Hicks (born 7 August 1975) is an Australian who attended al-Qaeda's Al Farouq training camp in Afghanistan, and met with Osama bin Laden during 2001. He was then detained by the United States in Guantanamo Bay detention camp from 2002 until 2007. Early life David Hicks was born in Adelaide, South Australia, to Terry and Susan Hicks. His parents separated when he was ten years old, and his father later remarried. He has a half sister. Described by his father as "a typical boy who couldn't settle down" and by his former school principal as one of "the most troublesome kids", Hicks reportedly experimented with alcohol and drugs as a teenager and was expelled from Smithfield Plains High School in 1990 at age 14. Before turning 15, Hicks was given dispensation by his father from attending school. David Hicks (chaplain)
Chaplain (Major General) David Harlan Hicks (born 1942) is a retired American army officer who served as the 21st Chief of Chaplains of the United States Army from 2003 to 2007. Hicks began his career in 1958 and was stationed as a patrolman in the Korean Demilitarized Zone in 1965. An ordained Presbyterian, he served as a command chaplain at the United States Army Special Forces Command (USASOC) at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He has over 30 years of experience as an army chaplain. As the Army's Chief of Chaplains, he oversaw over 2,200 chaplains serving in United States Army, National Guard, and Army Reserve capacities. He retired in 2007, and was succeeded by Brig. Gen. Douglas L. Carver. David Hicks (born 10 October 1978) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played as a for the North Sydney Bears in the NRL in 1999. Playing career Hicks made his first grade debut from the bench in his side's 28−20 loss to the Sydney City Roosters in round 19 of the 1999 season. He played in 4 more games for the North Sydney club in the 1999 NRL season and was left out of the side for Norths final ever first grade game against the North Queensland Cowboys in Townsville. Norths controversially merged with rivals the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles to form the Northern Eagles as part of the NRL's rationalization strategy. David Anthony Hicks (born December 15, 1945) is an American former ski jumper. He placed 19th in the large hill and 41st in the normal hill at the 1964 Winter Olympics. Next year he won the national title and finished 11th at the Holmenkollen Ski Festival. David Hicks (born August 1, 1988) is an American professional basketball player, currently a free agent. College career David Hicks was a key member of the 2010 Long Island University, which made it to the 2011 NCAA basketball tournament. During his college career Hicks made 123 starts in the backcourt and finished his career with 1,157 points. Professional career After going undrafted in 2011, Hicks moved to Germany and played for UBC Münster, SG Schwelmer Baskets and Science City Jena. While there, he received player of the week honors while on the SG Schwelmer Baskets. On July 25, 2015 he signed to play with Ironi Nahariya after playing for Science City Jena.
