David Halvorson
David Philip Halvorson (July 9, 1948 – July 1, 2013) was an American politician. Born in Sidney, Montana, Halvorson graduated from Williston High School in Williston, North Dakota. Halvorson received his bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of North Dakota and was in ROTC. He went to the United States Military Academy for two years for military training and studies. He then returned to Montana and was in the radio business. He was also a wheat farmer. Halvorson served in the Montana House of Representatives as a Republican from 2013 until his death from cancer. Sidney is a city in and the county seat of Richland County, Montana, United States, less than west of the North Dakota border. The population was 6,346 at the 2020 census. The city lies along the Yellowstone River and is in proximity to the badlands of the Dakotas. Sidney is approximately midway between Glendive, Montana and Williston, North Dakota. History Settlers began arriving in the area in the 1870s, and a post office was established in 1888. Six-year-old Sidney Walters and his parents were staying with Hiram Otis, the local justice of the peace, and Otis decided that Sidney was a good name for the town. Williston High School (North Dakota)
Williston High School is a public high school located in Williston, North Dakota. It currently serves about 1,000 students and is a part of the Williston Basin School District 7. The official school colors are orange and black and the athletic teams are known as the Coyotes. The historic school building of Williston High School at 612 1st Ave. W. was listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 2011. (with reference number #11000413) It was in the Williston Public School District 1 until it merged with Williams County School District 8 into the Williston Basin School District 7 in 2021. Prior to 2021, District 8, which was K-8 only, sent high school students to Williston High. Campus By July 2019 the school had a machine that makes espressos. Williston is a city in and the county seat of Williams County, North Dakota, United States. The 2020 census gave its population as 29,160, making Williston the sixth-largest city in North Dakota. The city's population nearly doubled between 2010 and 2020, due largely to the North Dakota oil boom. Williston's newspaper is the daily ''Williston Herald''. Williston is the home of Williston State College and the Miss North Dakota Scholarship Pageant. The United States Military Academy (USMA), also known metonymically as West Point or simply as Army, is a United States service academy in West Point, New York. It was originally established as a fort, since it sits on strategic high ground overlooking the Hudson River with a scenic view, north of New York City.
