David Gossett
David Spencer Gossett (born April 28, 1979) is an American professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour and the Web.com Tour (formerly the Nationwide Tour). Gossett was born in Phoenix, Arizona. His father introduced him to the game of golf and he competed in his first tournament at age 10. He went to Germantown High School in Germantown, Tennessee. and was part of the IMG golf academy in Bradenton Florida (it was then called, David Leadbetter Golf Academy). Gossett attended the University of Texas, and was a two-time first-team All-American member of the golf team. He won the U.S. Amateur, the Big 12 Championship, and was the ''Big 12 Student-Athlete of the Year'' in 1999. He was also a member of the Walker Cup team in 1999. He turned pro in 2000. Briny Baird
Michael Jancey "Briny" Baird (born May 11, 1972) is an American professional golfer who has played on the PGA Tour and Buy.com Tour. Early life Baird was born in Miami Beach, Florida, the son of professional golfer Butch Baird. He played varsity golf in the 7th grade at Miami Country Day. He originally attended Georgia Tech before transferring to Valdosta State University where he won the NCAA Division II individual golf championship in 1994 and 1995. He turned professional in 1995. Professional career Baird won the 2000 Monterrey Open on the Buy.com Tour (now the Korn Ferry Tour). He currently plays on the PGA Tour, but a poor 2005 season saw him lose his card. 1999 Walker Cup
The 1999 Walker Cup, the 37th Walker Cup Match, was played on 11–12 September 1999, at Nairn Golf Club in Nairn, Scotland. The event was won by Great Britain and Ireland 15 to 9. Format The format for play on Saturday and Sunday was the same. There were four matches of foursomes in the morning and eight singles matches in the afternoon. In all, 24 matches were played. Each of the 24 matches is worth one point in the larger team competition. If a match is all square after the 18th hole extra holes are not played. Rather, each side earns ½ a point toward their team total. The team that accumulates at least 12½ points wins the competition. If the two teams are tied, the previous winner retains the trophy. Junior Ryder Cup
The Junior Ryder Cup is a team golf competition between Europe and the United States for junior golfers aged 18 and under. It is based on the men's Ryder Cup and is run by the same organisations, the PGA of America and Ryder Cup Europe. The 2018 event took place at Golf Disneyland, Marne-la-Vallée, Paris, France on Monday 24 and Tuesday 25 September. The United States won 12–11, their sixth successive victory in the event. Format The teams consist of six boys and six girls. From 2008 to 2018 the tournament was played over two days of foursomes, fourball and singles matches. There were three boys' matches and three girls' foursomes matches and six mixed fourball matches on the first day.
