David Gardiner (born 11 February 1957) is a Guatemalan footballer. He competed in the men's tournament at the 1988 Summer Olympics. David Gardiner (May 29, 1784 – February 28, 1844) was an American lawyer and politician who served as a member of New York State Senate from 1824 to 1828. He was the father of Julia Gardiner Tyler, second wife of U.S. President John Tyler. He died in an explosion aboard the USS ''Princeton''. Early life Gardiner was born on May 29, 1784, the son of Abraham Gardiner (1763–1796) and Phebe Dayton (1757–1810). David McLane Gardiner (born 1955) is an American environmental strategist who has worked for the Clinton administration and United States Environmental Protection Agency. Gardiner was a member of the United States delegation present at the negotiations for the Kyoto Protocol. Education and early career Gardiner graduated from Harvard University in 1977 with a degree in History, before joining the Sierra Club where he worked for 15 years. During his time working for the Sierra Club, Gardiner worked variously in the San Francisco office and as communication coordinator, before spending ten years working for them as Legislative Director in Washington, D.C. when the Sierra Club was lobbying for the Clean Air Act (1990) and other environmental protection legislation. Lion Gardiner (1599–1663) was an English engineer and colonist who founded the first English settlement in New York, acquiring land on eastern Long Island. He had been working in the Netherlands and was hired to construct fortifications on the Connecticut River, for the Connecticut Colony.
