David Freed (printmaker)
David Freed (born 1936) is an American artist based in Richmond, Virginia where he taught at Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts. His art has been shown extensively throughout the world and is in the collections of major museums and private collections. He is known for his masterful prints using the intaglio technique of etching and for his collaboration with major poets such as Charles Wright and Larry Levis in creating artist's books combining his etchings with their poetry. Education After earning a BFA from Miami University, David Freed attended the University of Iowa in the early 1960s where he met the poet Charles Wright with whom he would later collaborate. Freed and Wright were both pursuing MFA degrees, but in different fields. Wright was working on a degree in poetry from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop and Freed was in visual arts, studying under legendary printmaker Mauricio Lasansky. Morris Museum Of Art
The Morris Museum of Art in Augusta, Georgia was established in 1985 as a non-profit foundation by William S. Morris III, publisher of The Augusta Chronicle, in memory of his parents, as the first museum dedicated to the collection and exhibition of art and artists of the American South. In 1989, Morris bought 230 pictures for the museum from Southern art collector Robert P. Coggins, with Keith Claussen appointed museum director the following year. Ruth Borchard (1910–2000) was a British writer who created a collection of self-portraits made by 100 modern British artists, the Ruth Borchard Collection. A notable work of Borchard's was '' John Stuart Mill: the Man''. Early and personal life Borchard was a cousin of Deborah Layton, survivor and author of '' Seductive Poison: A Jonestown Survivor's Story of Life and Death in the Peoples Temple.'' Kings Place is a building in London’s Kings Cross area, providing music and visual arts venues combined with seven floors of office space. It has housed the editorial offices of ''The Guardian'' newspaper since December 2008 and is the former headquarters of Network Rail and CGI.
