David Frankel
David Frankel (born April 2, 1959) is an American filmmaker. Most known as the director of 2006 film, '' The Devil Wears Prada'', he is an executive producer and the director of the first and fourth episodes of the Netflix miniseries ''Inventing Anna'' (2022). Biography Frankel was born to a Jewish family in New York City. He is the son of Tobia Simone (née Brown) and Max Frankel, a former executive editor of ''The New York Times'' and columnist. He won the Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film for his 1996 short film '' Dear Diary'' and an Emmy for Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series for the pilot episode of ''Entourage'' (2004), and has since directed the studio films '' The Devil Wears Prada'' (2006), ''Marley & Me'' (2008), and '' Hope Springs'' (2012). Margaret JoBeth Williams (born December 6, 1948) is an American actress and television director. Her directorial debut with the 1994 short film ''On Hope'' earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Live Action Short Film. In 2009 she began serving as president of the Screen Actors Guild Foundation; she is President Emeritus of the foundation. ''Grapevine'' is an American sitcom created by David Frankel, premiered as a six-episode summer series on CBS from June 15 to July 27, 1992. It was not renewed. A revival of the series, with a different cast, premiered on CBS in February 2000, lasting five episodes. 1992 version Summary David owned a restaurant in Miami Beach on Ocean Drive. His girlfriend Susan worked for a cruise line. His brother Thumper was a sportscaster. The series was a 1990s take on ''Love, American Style'' in its couple-of-the-week format. ''The Short Game'' is a 2013 documentary film about 7- and 8-year-old golfers. Produced by Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel and directed by Josh Greenbaum, it presents eight entrants in the 2012 U.S. Kids Golf World Championship.
