David Dixon (actor)
David Dixon (born 28 October 1947) is an English actor and screenwriter. He was born at the Nightingale Maternity Home in Derby, near his father's shop in London Road, and brought up there before the family moved to Normanton in 1959. Dixon's most notable role was in the 1981 BBC TV series '' The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy'', in which he starred as Ford Prefect. He also received critical acclaim for his portrayal of Ariel in the 1980 BBC version of '' The Tempest'' (directed by John Gorrie). He would later rejoin the ''Hitchhiker's Guide'' by lending his voice to the "Ecological Man" and the "Zirzla Leader" in Fit the Twentieth of the radio series, while Geoffrey McGivern, who had originally played the character on radio, returned to the role of Ford. David Dixon (businessman)
David Frank Dixon (June 4, 1923 – August 8, 2010) was an American businessman and sports executive who helped create the New Orleans Saints NFL team, the Louisiana Superdome, World Championship Tennis (WCT) and the United States Football League (USFL). An alumnus of Tulane University, Dixon created the New Orleans Professional Football Club, Inc., to lobby for an NFL or an AFL franchise for that city starting in 1962. In the 1961 season the Oakland Raiders finished 1–13, but several future Hall of Fame players were on that team. The owner decided to sell the team to Dixon for $236,000, and the team would have become the New Orleans Raiders; however, the mayor of Oakland interceded and helped put a group together and the team remained in Oakland. After persuading the AFL to play its 1965 All-Star game in New Orleans, Dixon experienced a setback when black players encountered discrimination in the French Quarter. David Tukatahi Dixon (born January 5, 1969) is a former American football guard who played eleven professional seasons in the National Football League (NFL) and was the second Maori to play in professional football after Riki Ellison. David Dixon (born 27 March 1977) is an English professional golfer. Career Dixon was born in Bridgwater, Somerset, England. He turned professional in 2001. Dixon had a glittering amateur career, the highlight of which was his performance at the 2001 Open Championship, where he earned the silver medal as the lowest finishing amateur. Dixon bounced between the European Tour and the Challenge Tour between 2001 and 2007. However, in 2008 he secured his first ever professional win, and his status as a European Tour member, with victory at the Saint-Omer Open. David Dippie Dixon (1 September 1842 in Whittingham – 28 November 1929 in Rothbury) was an English local historian and writer on his native Northumberland. Biography David Dippie Dixon was born in Whittingham, Northumberland, on 1 September 1842 to parents William and Jane Dixon, and christened there on 23 October 1842. Dave Dixon (August 26, 1926 – September 19, 1964) was an American DJ and program director at the St. Louis radio station KATZ. In addition to being a local producer and promoter of live music shows, Dixon was also the president of the National Association of Radio Broadcasters (NARA).
