David Dick (soccer)
David Dick is an American retired soccer player who spent eleven seasons in the American Soccer League. In 1941, he began his career with the Philadelphia Americans, winning the league title with them in 1942 and 1944. He then moved to the Philadelphia Nationals where he finished his career. During his time with the Nationals, he won three straight titles from 1949 to 1951. The nationals twice finished runner up in the National Challenge Cup during Dick's tenure with the team. Philadelphia Americans
Philadelphia German-American was an American soccer club based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania that was an inaugural member of the professional American Soccer League. Before the 1941/42 season the club became known as the Philadelphia Americans. During the 1953/54 season, the franchise was bought by a trucking magnate and renamed the Uhrik Truckers. The team earned a "mini-double" in 1955 winning the league championship and league cup (the Lewis Cup). The club also won the National Amateur Cup in 1933 and 1934 and the Lewis Cup in 1941, 1943 and 1958. Philadelphia Nationals was the name of two American soccer clubs based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania that were both members of the professional American Soccer League. Passon F.C./Passon Phillies/Philadelphia Nationals Originally, and amateur club called Passon F.C., the club became better known as the Passon Phillies or Philadelphia Passon. The team joined the professional American Soccer League prior to the 1936/37 season. Prior to the 1941/42 season, the club became the Philadelphia Nationals. The 1949 National Challenge Cup was the largest soccer tournament in the United States in 1949. The four St. Louis Soccer League teams withdrew from the competition citing "a succession of unpleasant experiences connected with the playing of the National Challenge Cup."McSkimming, Dent (October 29, 1948). Morgan Strasser
Morgan F.C. was an early twentieth century U.S. soccer team from Morgan, Pennsylvania. Morgan is located in South Fayette Township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. The team became known as Morgan Strasser after Peter Strasser purchased it. History Morgan F.C. existed at least as early as 1912 when it won the '' Pittsburgh Press'' Soccer Football League. In 1924, it won the first of seven West Penn Challenge Cups. However, it did not come to national prominence until after Peter Strasser purchased the team some time in either the late 1930s or early 1940s. When he did, he changed the name to Morgan-Strasser F.C. Harmarville Hurricanes
The Harmarville Hurricanes Soccer Club were an amateur soccer club from Harmarville, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Pittsburgh, that twice won the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, known then as the National Challenge Cup, in 1952 and 1956. They also played in the Cup Final in 1953. The team was owned by the Harmar Coal Company. Many of the players worked in the coal industry in addition to playing for the Hurricanes. The Hurricanes beat the American Soccer League's Philadelphia Nationals 7-5 in the 1952 cup final with the winning goal scored by Sonny Yakopec. The 1956 Final saw the Hurricanes win 3–2 on aggregate score after a comeback from a two-goal deficit. They lost the first leg on the road 1–0 and conceded the first goal in the return home leg.
