David Deng Athorbie
David Deng Athorbei (c. 1949 near Yirol, Lakes State), also sometimes wrongly referred to as David Deng Athorbie, is a South Sudan , South Sudanese politician and civil servant. Presently he is a member of parliament representing Yirol West. He has been Minister for Finance and Economic Planning, Minister of Roads, and Minister of Dams and Electricity in independent South Sudan. Background David Deng Athorbei is born in 1949 (officially estimated age) in a village near the town of Yirol. Lakes State. He is a member of the Dinka ethnic group. He started his secondary school education in Rumbek, but completed it in Khartoum. The Greater Upper Nile () is a region of northeastern South Sudan. It is named for the White Nile (it is its lowest portion in South Sudan), a tributary of the Nile River in North and East Africa. History The Greater Upper Nile region seceded from the Republic of Sudan on 9 July 2011 along with its fellow Southern Sudanese regions of Bahr el Ghazal and Equatoria. Band Aid was the collective name of a charity supergroup featuring mainly British and Irish musicians and recording artists. It was founded in 1984 by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure to raise money for anti-famine efforts in Ethiopia by releasing the song "Do They Know It's Christmas?" for the Christmas market that year. On 25 November 1984, the song was recorded at Sarm West Studios in Notting Hill, London, and was released in the UK on Monday 3 December.
