David Copperfield (1966 TV Serial)
''David Copperfield'' is a BBC television serial starring Ian McKellen in the title role of the adaptation of Charles Dickens's 1850 novel that began airing in January 1966. It also featured Tina Packer as Dora Flora Robson as Betsey Trotwood, Gordon Gostelow as Barkis, and Christopher Guard as young David. The screenplay adaptation was written by Vincent Tilsley, who had previously helmed the 1956 adaptation almost a decade prior. It had a viewership of over 12 million for its initial airings. Only four of the serial's thirteen episodes (3, 8, 9 and 11) are known to exist. ''The Guardian'' is a British daily newspaper. It was founded in 1821 as ''The Manchester Guardian'', and changed its name in 1959. Uriah Heep (character)
Uriah Heep is a fictional character created by Charles Dickens in his 1850 novel ''David Copperfield''. Heep is the primary antagonist during the second part of the novel. His character is notable for his cloying humility, unctuousness, obsequiousness, and insincerity, making frequent references to his own umbleness". His name has become synonymous with sycophancy. In the novel David first meets the 15-year-old Heep when he comes to live with Mr Wickfield and his daughter Agnes. Uriah is a law clerk working for Mr Wickfield. He realises that his widowed employer has developed a severe drinking problem, and turns it to his advantage. Colin Jeavons
Colin Abel Jeavons (born 20 October 1929) is a retired British television actor. Career Jeavons' earliest television role was as Jules Neraud in an episode of the 1956 anthology series of teleplays ''Nom-de-Plume''. Broadcast live, it is unknown if any recordings of the production exist. He began an association with Dickens productions on BBC Television in 1959 with ''Bleak House'' as Richard Carstone, and '' Great Expectations'' (for the first time) as Herbert Pocket. The same year he played Prince Hal/Henry V in the BBC's ''The Life and Death of Sir John Falstaff''. In 1963 he played the extremely reluctant hero Vadassy forced into espionage in '' Epitaph for a Spy'' for BBC Television. Jeavons portrayed Uriah Heep in the BBC's ''David Copperfield'' (1966). Wilkins Micawber is a clerk in Charles Dickens's 1850 novel ''David Copperfield''. He is traditionally identified with the optimistic belief that "something will turn up." His role in the story Micawber was incarcerated in debtors' prison (the King's Bench Prison) after failing to meet his creditors' demands. His long-suffering wife, Emma, stands by him despite his financial exigencies that force her to pawn all of her family's heirlooms. Bill Fraser
William Simpson Fraser (5 June 1908 – 9 September 1987) was a Scottish actor who appeared on stage, screen and television for many years. In 1986 he won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Comedy Performance for his stage role in the play ''When We Are Married''. Early life Fraser was born in Perth and educated at Strathallan School. Clive Francis (born 26 June 1946) is a British stage, television and film actor. Early life Francis was born in Eastbourne, Sussex. The Peggotty family are fictional characters in Charles Dickens's 1850 novel ''David Copperfield''. Daniel Peggotty Yarmouth fisherman Daniel Peggotty is the brother of Clara. Agnes Wickfield
Agnes Wickfield is a character of ''David Copperfield'', the 1850 novel by Charles Dickens. She is a friend and confidante of David Copperfield (character), David (the narrator and protagonist of this semi-autobiography) since his childhood and at the end of the novel, his second wife.
