David Gainey Clarke (30 August 1908 – 18 April 2004) was an Americans, American Broadway theatre, Broadway and motion picture actor. Life and career A native of Chicago and graduate of Butler University, Clarke started his career as a stage actor during the 1930s. He made his first film ''Knockout (1941 film), Knockout'' (1941). The actor remains perhaps best known for his film noir roles as a character actor during the 1940s and 1950s. He also played at the Biltmore Theatre in Los Angeles and was featured on Broadway in the original productions of ''A View from the Bridge'', ''Orpheus Descending'', ''The Ballad of the Sad Cafe'', ''Inquest'', and ''The Visit (play), The Visit''. On television, Clarke appeared as Abel Bingley on ''The Waltons'' and as Tiso Novotny in the soap opera ''Ryan's Hope''. David Clarke (born 25 January 1970) is an Australian cricketer. He played two first-class matches for South Australia between 1988 and 1990. Clarke made a "sound" first-class debut against Western Australia as a teenager in 1988. Described as a "clever medium-pace bowler", he was named in the AIS team for matches against the Australian Capital Territory in 1989. At the time, he had been the top wicket-taker in South Australian club cricket for the last two seasons. David Clarke was Moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland from 2006 to 2007. David Clarke was born in Ballymena on 2 September 1946 and graduated from Queen's University, Belfast with degrees in Law and then Divinity. From 1970 until 1974 Dr Clarke was the assistant minister at Bloomfield Presbyterian Church in Belfast before accepting a call to Templepatrick. Six years later in 1980 he became minister of Terrace Row congregation in Coleraine with a membership of some 450 families. Receiving the support of 14 of the 21 presbyteries in Ireland, Dr Clarke was a popular choice to be Moderator of the General Assembly. During his moderatorial year his theme was "Serving Christ, Serving Others". David John Haskins (born 24 April 1957, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England), better known as David J, is a British alternative rock musician, producer, and writer. He is the bassist for the gothic rock band Bauhaus and for Love and Rockets. He has composed the scores for a number of plays and films, and also wrote and directed his own plays, ''Silver for Gold (The Odyssey of Edie Sedgwick)'', in 2008, which was restaged at REDCAT in Los Angeles in 2011, and ''The Chanteuse and The Devil's Muse'' in 2011. David Clarke is deputy vice-chancellor and Professor of Law at Bristol University. Biography Clark studied law at Queens' College Cambridge from 1968 to 1972, obtaining his BA degree in 1971 (MA 1974) and LLM in 1972. He became a Solicitor (Honours) of the Supreme Court in 1975, serving Articles of Clerkship with Andrew & Co, Solicitors of Lincoln and was an assistant solicitor to that firm until his appointment as lecturer in law at the University of Bristol in 1977. Clark became a visiting lecturer in law at the University of Canterbury in New Zealand in 1985. Promoted reader in 1990, he was subsequently promoted to Professor of Law in the University of Bristol in 1995. He served as head of the Department of Law for three years from 1997 to 2000 and was dean of the Faculty of Law from 2001 to 2003 and dean of law in 2003–2004 on the merger of the Faculties of Social Sciences and Law. David Robert Clarke (born 1 January 1958) is a British former distance runner who competed over distances from the 1500 metres to the marathon. He represented Great Britain over 5000 metres at the 1983 World Championships in Athletics and the 1981 Summer Universiade. He made twelve appearances at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships from 1977 to 1995. Individually, his performance came at the 1983 IAAF World Cross Country Championships, where he placed seventh overall.
