David Clark (cartoonist)
David Clark is an American illustrator who has produced work for newspapers. He received the National Cartoonist Society Newspaper Illustration Award for 1996 for his work. He has illustrated several children's books. He is the illustrator and co-creator of the syndicated comic strip '' Barney & Clyde'', which debuted on June 7, 2010. National Cartoonist Society
The National Cartoonists Society (NCS) is an organization of professional cartoonists in the United States. It presents the National Cartoonists Society Awards. The Society was born in 1946 when groups of cartoonists got together to entertain the troops. They enjoyed each other's company and decided to meet on a regular basis. NCS members work in many branches of the profession, including advertising, animation, newspaper comic strips and syndicated single-panel cartoons, comic books, editorial cartoons, gag cartoons, graphic novels, greeting cards, magazine and book illustration. Only recently has the National Cartoonists Society embraced web comics. ''Barney & Clyde'' is a daily newspaper comic strip created by ''Washington Post'' columnist Gene Weingarten, his son Dan Weingarten, and cartoonist David Clark. Syndicated by The Washington Post Writers Group, it debuted on June 7, 2010. It appears in ''The Washington Post'', ''The Miami Herald'', ''The Detroit Free Press'' and many other newspapers. On Father's Day 2010, Gene Weingarten wrote about how their collaboration began. Characters and story ''Barney & Clyde'' is about the friendship between a billionaire and a homeless man. The title characters are J. Barnard Pillsbury, owner and CEO of multinational drug company Pillsbury Pharmaceuticals, and homeless Clyde Finster.
