David C. Reed
David C. Reed (June 16, 1847 – July 18, 1928) was an American Republican politician from California. D. C. Reed was born 1847 in New York. In 1870, he came to San Diego where he became an attorney and real estate and insurance agent. During the boom years of 1886–1888, he was one of the five developers of Pacific Beach. Reed was active in politics. In 1872 and 1884 he was delegate to the Republican State Convention. He canvassed the state for Grant and Wilson in 1872 and for Hayes and Wheeler in 1876. Reed was Alderman for San Diego in 1891, Harbor Commissioner in 1893, and Fire Commissioner in 1895. In 1887, Reed lost the race for mayor of San Diego, California to William Jefferson Hunsaker. Alderman
An alderman is a member of a municipal assembly or council in many jurisdictions founded upon English law. William Jefferson Hunsaker (1855–1933) was an American lawyer and politician from San Diego and later Los Angeles, California. Hunsaker was the San Diego County District Attorney from 1882 to 1884, 4th Mayor of San Diego from 1887 to 1888 and president of the California Bar Association from 1913 to 1914.
