David Burns (basketball)
David Earl Burns (born July 3, 1958) is an American retired professional basketball player. He played college basketball for Navarro College and Saint Louis Billikens men's basketball, Saint Louis. He was raised in Dallas, Texas, and attended South Oak Cliff High School. After two years at Navarro Junior College, Burns transferred to Saint Louis University. In his two years at SLU, he averaged 19.4 and 21.4 points per game. He was conference co-MVP during his senior year. Burns was selected by the NBA’s New Jersey Nets in the 3rd round (49th pick overall) of the 1981 NBA draft. He split the 1981-82 NBA season, 1981–82 season with the Nets and Denver Nuggets, playing a total of 9 games. Burns was inducted to the Navarro College athletic hall of fame in 2021. David Burns (born 12 November 1958 in Liverpool) is a former English footballer. He played in The Football League for Chester. Playing career Burns was a product of the Chester youth policy and broke into the first-team in the closing stages of the 1976–77 season, making his debut in a 2–1 defeat to Chesterfield on 23 April 1977 in the number 11 shirt. The campaign ended with Burns on target against Port Vale in the final of the Debenhams Cup, helping Chester to a 4–3 aggregate victory. Despite this early success, Burns struggled to establish himself in the Chester first-team ranks and had to wait until 1980–81 before he made more than 10 league appearances in a season. His most productive season was 1981–82 when he played 32 games at either full back or on the left wing. Dave Burns (born in the United Kingdom), is a Dutch- British football coach. He is fluent in English and Dutch, and has basic knowledge of French and German. Playing career Burns had played semi-professional football in the Netherlands, but an injury in 1982 forced him to quit. He decided to take up coaching instead. Managerial career In 1983, Dave Burns completed his course for a UEFA ‘A’ coaching badge. In the Netherlands he coaching clubs and worked the Royal Dutch Football Association’s Youth Plan. Burns also spent time coaching in Belgium, Germany, Jamaica, Canada and the USA. David Burns (born 1963) is an American sportscaster who works for NASCAR on NBC as a pit reporter for the NASCAR Cup Series and Xfinity Series as well as a substitute play-by-play on standalone Xfinity Series races. He has been a motorsports analyst for over 25 years and counting. David Burns (or Burnsy) (born 26 April 1959 in Glasgow, Scotland) is a British radio presenter working for the BBC. David Spencer Burns, Lord Burns (born 1952) is a Senator of the College of Justice. Burns was admitted to the Faculty of Advocates in 1977 and became a Queen's Counsel in 1991. Before admission, he worked as a legal assistant in New York and California. He practiced family, personal injury and planning. Between 1989 and 1991, he was full-time Advocate Depute. He was appointed Deputy Commissioner of Social Security. During the Lockerbie trial (2000–2002), Burns was one of the advocates representing Abdelbaset al-Megrahi. Burns served as a temporary judge from 2002 to 2005, and he became a part-time sheriff in 2007. David Burns (March 24, 1924, Perth Amboy, New Jersey - April 5, 2009, Freeport, New York) was an American jazz trumpeter, flugelhornist, arranger, composer, and teacher. Burns began playing trumpet when he was nine years old, and heard bebop performances at Minton's Playhouse as a teenager, including Dizzy Gillespie. His first ensemble was Al Cooper's Savoy Sultans, with whom he played from 1941 to 1943, then joined the Army Air Force and led a band from 1943 to 1945 that included James Moody as a sideman. He joined Gillespie's band in 1946 and appeared with Gillespie in ''Jivin' in Bebop'' in 1947. After leaving Gillespie's band in 1949, he worked with Duke Ellington from 1950 to 1952 and then with James Moody until 1957.
