Dave Bowman (footballer, Born 1964)
David Bowman (born 10 March 1964) is a Scottish football coach and former player. In a 12-year career with Dundee United he played in the 1987 UEFA Cup Final and won the 1993–94 Scottish Cup. At United he was also a three time Scottish Cup runner up. He also played for Heart of Midlothian, Coventry City, Raith Rovers and Forfar Athletic as well as having a spell in Hong Kong with Yee Hope FC. He played six times for the Scotland national football team and was a non-playing squad member at UEFA Euro 1992. Since 2007 he has worked as a community coach at Dundee United. Early life Dave Bowman was born in Royal Tunbridge Wells, Kent, England on 10 March 1964. David Bowman (botanist)
David Bowman (3 September 1838 – 25 June 1868) was a British plant collector who, in 1866, was sent by James Veitch & Sons to collect in Brazil. The species ''Dieffenbachia bowmanii'' is named after him. Career Bowman was born at Arniston near Edinburgh, where his father worked as a gardener. Bowman started his gardening career working with his father, before working at the gardens at Dalhousie Castle, Archerfield, and Dunmore Park, all in Scotland. He later took up a position as foreman in the gardens of the Royal Horticultural Society at Chiswick, west London. In 1866, he was recruited by James Veitch & Sons of Chelsea, who, in a joint venture with William Wilson Saunders, sent him to Brazil to search for orchids and other plants. He travelled initially to Rio de Janeiro and travelled across the continent to Colombia. David Bowman (politician)
David Bowman (24 August 1860 – 25 February 1916) was a Labor politician in the Legislative Assembly of Queensland and Queensland Leader of the Opposition from 1908 to 1912. Early life Bowman was born in Bendigo, Victoria on 4 August 1860. He was son of Archibald Bowman, a miner and Isabella Bowman (née Spence) both of whom were born in Scotland. Trained as a bootmaker in Victoria, Bowman moved north to Queensland in 1888. The following year, Bowman became the president of the Brisbane District Council of the Australian Labour Federation (ALF). In 1891, as an employee of the ALF, Bowman was responsible for organizing shearers and bushworkers during the pastoral strike. In 1892, he was elected as vice-president and the following year he became the president of the ALF. Politics Bowman's first attempt at entering politics was at the 1893 colonial election in the seat South Brisbane, losing out to Harry Turley and Charles Midson in the two member electorate. David Charles Bowman (November 15, 1932 – July 10, 2015) was a bishop of the Episcopal Church of the United States. Bowman was the 811th bishop consecrated for the Episcopal Church. Early life and education Bowman was born in Oil City, Pennsylvania. He earned a degree from Ohio University in 1955. He served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957. He then attended Virginia Theological Seminary, graduating with a Masters of Divinity degree in 1960. Ordination and ministry In June 1960, Bowman was ordained to the diaconate by Bishop Beverley Tucker. The following December, Bishop Nathan Burroughs of Ohio ordained him to the priesthood. Bowman spent the first part of his ordained ministry as an assistant priest at several Episcopal parishes in Ohio. In 1967 he became rector at St. Andrew's Church in Youngstown. Dave Bowman (musician)
David Walter Bowman (September 8, 1914 – December 28, 1964) was an American jazz pianist. He was born in Buffalo, New York, United States. Bowman was raised in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, where he learned to play piano as a four year old. He lived in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for a time, then worked in London with Jack Hylton in the mid-1930s. After returning to the United States he settled in New York and played with Bobby Hackett, Sharkey Bonano, Sidney Bechet, and Bud Freeman late in the decade. In the early 1940s, he worked with Jack Teagarden, Joe Marsala, Muggsy Spanier, Lee Wiley, and Eddie Condon. He took positions with ABC and NBC in the later 1940s (including with Perry Como) and worked as a studio musician on recordings. In the 1950s, he worked with Bud Freeman again, and with Phil Napoleon shortly before his own death. Dave Bowman died in an automobile accident in December 1964, in Miami, Florida. soulDecision was a Canadian pop band active from 1993 to 2005. They are best known for the single, " Faded", which hit number-one in Canada in 2000, and " Ooh It's Kinda Crazy" which became a hit as well the following year in early 2001. Career The group was formed in Vancouver, British Columbia under the original name 'Indecision' by singer and multi-instrumentalist Trevor Guthrie, singer David Bowman, and keyboard player Ken Lewko, who were studying music together at Capilano College. Before signing a record deal, they released a couple of singles that received national top 40 radio airplay. The success of those singles led them to a record deal with Universal Music. However, due to a name conflict with an American band, they reluctantly changed their name from Indecision; they allowed their manager, Garry Francis, to choose the new name soulDecision. David Bowman Schneder (March 23, 1857 – October 5, 1938) was an American missionary educator in Japan. Early life and education Schneder, was born in Bowmansville, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Franklin and Marshall College in 1880. He graduated the Lancaster Theological Seminary 1883 and was ordained minister of the Reformed Church in the United States. He was a pastor Marietta, Pennsylvania, 1883-1887. Career In 1887 he and his wife were appointed to serve as missionaries in Japan. He taught at the Sendai Theological Training School, founded in 1886; the school later became Tohoku Gakuin University. He was the second president in 1901 and served until 1936. During his 35 years as president, the school expanded, adding college courses with Departments of Theology, Teacher Training, Commerce and Liberal Arts.
