David Bolger
David Bolger (born 1968) is an Irish choreographer, dancer and theatrical director. He is a member of Aosdána, an elite Irish association of artists. Early life Bolger was born in Dublin in 1968 and grew up in Sandymount; he lived next to the singer Agnes Bernelle and actor Christopher Casson. His father was a haulage contractor. Career Bolger enrolled in Dublin City Ballet aged 16. He founded the dance company CoisCéim ( Irish: "footstep") in 1995. In 2001, he co-wrote and choreographed the film ''Hit and Run'', which won the Paula Citron Award for Choreography for the Camera at the Moving Pictures Festival, Toronto and the Jury Prize at the Dance on Camera Festival. He was nominated at the American Choreography Awards. Bolger was the choreographer for the film '' Dancing at Lughnasa'' (1998). Aosdána Members
Aosdána ( , ; from , 'people of the arts') is an Irish association of artists. It was created in 1981 on the initiative of a group of writers with support from the country's Arts Council. Membership, which is by invitation from current members, is limited to 250 individuals; before 2005 it was limited to 200. Its governing body is called the Toscaireacht. Formation Aosdána was originally set up on the suggestion of writer Anthony Cronin, by ''Taoiseach'' Charles Haughey, well known for his support for the Arts, although Fintan O'Toole has argued that this also served to deflect criticism of Haughey's political actions. Blackwater Valley Opera Festival
The Blackwater Valley Opera Festival (formerly the Lismore Opera Festival and Lismore Music Festival) is a classical music and opera festival held annually in Lismore, County Waterford, Ireland. Founded in 2010 by Jennifer O'Connell and artistic director Dieter Kaegi, the festival was re-launched as the Blackwater Valley Opera Festival in February 2018. Previous events have consisted of three opera nights performed in Lismore Castle's stable yard. Concerts and recitals have also been staged in Lismore and in historic homes located along the banks of the Blackwater River downstream to the parish of Cappoquin. These venues have included Salterbridge House, Cappoquin House, Tourin House, Dromore Yard and Lismore Cathedral. In 2012, Irish President Michael D. The Guthrie Theater, founded in 1963, is a center for theater performance, production, education, and professional training in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The concept of the theater was born in 1959 in a series of discussions between Sir Tyrone Guthrie, Oliver Rea and Peter Zeisler. Disenchanted with Broadway, they intended to form a theater with a resident acting company, to perform classic plays in rotating repertory, while maintaining the highest professional standards. The Guthrie Theater has performed in two main-stage facilities. The first building was designed by Ralph Rapson, included a 1,441-seat thrust stage designed by Tanya Moiseiwitsch, and was operated from 1963–2006.
