Dave Barrett
David Barrett (October 2, 1930 – February 2, 2018) was a politician and social worker in British Columbia, Canada. He was the 26th premier of British Columbia from 1972 to 1975. Early life and career Barrett was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, the son of Rose (Hyatt or Hait) and Samuel Barrett, a peddler. His family was Jewish. His mother was from Odessa, and his paternal grandparents were immigrants from Russia. Barrett described his father as a Fabian socialist and his mother as a Communist who voted CCF. Barrett graduated from Seattle University with a degree in philosophy. He returned to Vancouver in 1953 after graduating and married Shirley Hackman. The couple then moved to St. Louis, Missouri, where Barrett attended St Louis University and earned a master's degree in social work. David Barrett (November 27, 1954 – September 19, 2018) was an American journalist who worked for Fox News, ABC Radio News, and CBS News for several decades until his death in September 2018. Immediately prior to his death, Barrett was the host of the late edition of the '' CBS World News Roundup''. Career and awards Dave Barrett began his career at the University of Houston's KUHF while a student at the university. In a 2015 interview, Mr. Barrett described himself as being at the station "ALL the time" while filling various roles from sports play-by-play announcing, sports newscasts, and music host. His work at KUHF led him to being offered an internship at KTRH in the Houston market, which was blocked by William Hawes, who was a supervisor for KUHF at that time. David Barrett (born December 22, 1977) is a former American football cornerback who played nine seasons in the National Football League. He was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in the fourth round of the 2000 NFL Draft. He played college football at Arkansas. David Barrett (born February 6, 1973) is an American blues harmonica player, author and teacher. Early years Barrett started playing the harmonica at age fourteen. At age sixteen Gary Smith took Barrett as a private student. Smith also introduced Barrett to the local blues jam scene and even invited him to participate is some of the local harmonica blowouts. At age eighteen Barrett was studying music theory in college (De Anza College in Cupertino, California) and started teaching private harmonica lessons at local music stores and institutes in the California Bay Area. Since 2002 he has been teaching at his own School of the Blues in San Jose. Author Barrett has authored a number of harmonica instructional books with Mel Bay Publications.
