David Barclay (congressman)
David Barclay (1823September 10, 1889) was a Democratic member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Pennsylvania. Biography Born in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania in 1823, Barclay attended Washington College (now Washington & Jefferson College) in Washington, Pennsylvania. He studied law in Pittsburgh, was admitted to the bar and practiced in Punxsutawney, Brookville, and Kittanning, Pennsylvania. He became one of the editors and publishers of the '' Pittsburgh Union and Legal Journal'', and worked in that capacity from 1850 to 1855. While a resident of Brookville, Barclay was elected as a Democrat to the Thirty-fourth Congress. At the end of his legislative career, he resumed the practice of law. Death and interment Barclay died in Freeport, Pennsylvania Freeport is a borough in Armstrong County in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania; it is situated along the Allegheny River in the southwest corner of the county. John Dick (US Congressman)
John Dick (June 17, 1794 – May 29, 1872) was an American politician and judge. He represented Pennsylvania as a Whig, a member of the Opposition Party and a Republican in the United States House of Representatives. Biography John Dick was born on June 17, 1794, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. With his parents, he moved to Meadville, Pennsylvania while less than a year old, in December 1794. He attended and received his education at the common schools. He served as major of the First Battalion of the Pennsylvania Militia in 1821. Dick then served as colonel of the First Regiment in 1825 before becoming brigadier general of the Second Brigade, Sixteenth Division of the Pennsylvania Militia in 1831. After his militia service, he moved into mercantile business and banking, establishing the banking house J.&J.R. Dick in 1850.
