David Barbe
David Barbe (pronounced ˈbɑɹ.bi BAR-bee; born September 30, 1963) is an American musician and producer/engineer from Athens, Georgia and director of the Music Business Certificate Program at the University of Georgia. He is chief of Chase Park Transduction studio in Athens. Barbe is known for his work as a songwriter, singer, guitarist, and bass guitarist in Sugar, Mercyland, and Buzz Hungry, as well as solo performances. He has produced nearly every album by the popular country rock band Drive-By Truckers, and has worked as producer and engineer with Son Volt. He has an all-star solo band in Athens called the Quick Hooks. Drive-By Truckers
Drive-By Truckers are an American rock band based in Athens, Georgia. Two of five current members (Patterson Hood and Mike Cooley) are originally from The Shoals region of northern Alabama and met as roommates at the University of North Alabama. The group also has roots in Richmond, Virginia. A big band or jazz orchestra is a type of musical ensemble of jazz music that usually consists of ten or more musicians with four sections: saxophones, trumpets, trombones, and a rhythm section. Georgia Music Hall Of Fame
The Georgia Music Hall of Fame was a hall of fame to recognize music performers and music industry professionals from or connected to the state of Georgia. It began with efforts of the state's lieutenant governor Zell Miller to attract the music industry to Georgia. Following the first Georgia Music Week in 1978, the first Georgia Music Hall of Fame Awards were held in 1979, with two inductees. The hall eventually had 163 inductees; the final inductions were made in 2015. The Georgia Music Hall of Fame Museum was located in downtown Macon, Georgia, United States, from 1996 until it closed in 2011. Jack Logan
Jack Logan (born February 8, 1959) is an American singer-songwriter born in Greenville, Mississippi and raised in Lawrenceville, Illinois. He began recording, however, after moving to Winder, Georgia. He created two comic books in the 1980s, starring Peter Buck of R.E.M. as a superhero, and the connection to Peter Buck led to Twin/Tone Records' Peter Jesperson's interest in releasing some of Logan's material. He also drew a comic book that was included with LP copies of the Coolies second album, ''Doug.'' His first release was the critically acclaimed ''Bulk'' which contained 42 songs from the approximately 600 Logan had recorded from 1979 to 1993. Athfest
AthFest is a free annual music and arts festival in Athens, Georgia, first held in 1997. The festival spans three days in the downtown area during the summer, and planning for the event begins in November. Jared Bailey founded the festival to promote the music of Athens, Georgia; he was formerly of the free alternative weekly ''Flagpole'' and the influential early nightclub the 40 Watt Club. Deerhunter is an American indie rock band from Atlanta, Georgia, formed in 2001. The band currently consists of Bradford Cox (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Moses Archuleta (drums, electronics, sound treatments), Lotus Plaza, Lockett Pundt (guitar, vocals, keyboards), Josh McKay (musician), Josh McKay (bass) and Javier Morales (keyboards, synthesizers, alto saxophone). Treasure Island Music Festival
Treasure Island Music Festival is an annual two-day music festival. Prior to 2018, the festival took place on Treasure Island, California, located in the San Francisco Bay. In 2018, the festival moved to Middle Harbor Shoreline Park, located in Oakland. The festival is produced by Noise Pop and Another Planet Entertainment (APE) . The first day of the festival consists of electronica and hip hop/rap influenced performers while the second day consists of rock and indie rock influenced performers. Each day the sets are split between two separate, nearby stages, however, the performances are staggered such that attendees can listen to every performer. Typically, the northernmost stage is the main stage on which the headliner plays. Robert Arthur Mould (born October 16, 1960) is an American musician, principally known for his work as guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter for alternative rock bands Hüsker Dü in the 1980s and Sugar in the 1990s. Early years Born in Malone, New York, Mould lived in several places, including the Minneapolis-St. Paul area, where he attended Macalester College.
