David Baker (cricketer, Born 1945)
David Henry John Baker (born 2 February 1945) is a former English cricketer. Baker was a right-handed batsman who bowled off break. He was born in Histon, Cambridgeshire. Baker made his debut for Cambridgeshire in the 1970 Minor Counties Championship against Norfolk. Baker played Minor counties cricket for Cambridgeshire from 1970 to 1985, including 77 Minor Counties Championship matches and 3 MCCA Knockout Trophy matches. In 1972, he made his List A debut against Buckinghamshire in the Gillette Cup. He played two further List A matches for Cambridgeshire, against Northamptonshire in 1975 and Warwickshire in 1982. In his three List A matches, he scored 30 runs at a batting average of 10.00, with a high score of 23. Histon And Impington
Histon is a village and civil parish in the South Cambridgeshire district, in the county of Cambridgeshire, England. It is immediately north of Cambridge – and is separated from the city – by the A14 road (England), A14 road which runs east–west. In 2011 the parish had a population of 4655. Histon forms part of the Cambridge built-up area. Over the years the Histon and the neighbouring village of Impington have grown and entwined together, to such an extent that many villagers today do not know where one ends and the other begins. Northamptonshire County Cricket Club
Northamptonshire County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Northamptonshire. Its limited overs team is called the Northants Steelbacks – a reference to the Northamptonshire Regiment which was formed in 1881. The name was supposedly a tribute to the soldiers' apparent indifference to the harsh discipline imposed by their officers. Field Hockey
Field hockey is a team sport structured in standard hockey format, in which each team plays with ten outfield players and a goalkeeper. Teams must drive a round hockey ball by hitting it with a hockey stick towards the rival team's shooting circle and then into the goal. The match is won by the team that scores the most goals. Matches are played on grass, watered turf, artificial turf, synthetic field, or indoor boarded surface. The stick is made of wood, carbon fibre, fibreglass, or a combination of carbon fibre and fibreglass in different quantities. The stick has two sides; one rounded and one flat; only the flat face of the stick is allowed to progress the ball. In cricket, a player's batting average is the total number of runs they have scored divided by the number of times they have been out, usually given to two decimal places. Since the number of runs a player scores and how often they get out are primarily measures of their own playing ability, and largely independent of their teammates, batting average is a good metric for an individual player's skill as a batter (although the practice of drawing comparisons between players on this basis is not without criticism). The 1982 NatWest Trophy was an English limited overs county cricket tournament which was held between 3 July and 4 September 1982.
