David Adamany
David Walter Adamany (September 23, 1936 – November 10, 2016) was the 8th president of Wayne State University, serving from 1983 to 1997. One of Wayne State University's libraries, David Adamany Undergraduate Library, was his creation. Subsequently, Adamany later served as head of the Detroit Public School District from 1999 to 2000. He was Temple University's eighth president, serving from 2000 to 2006. David Adamany died Thursday November 10, 2016. Early life Adamany was born in Janesville, Wisconsin, on September 23, 1936, to Walter Joseph and Dora Marie Adamany, both of Lebanese immigrant descent. He was the oldest of four Adamany children, including one brother and two sisters. After graduating from high school, he received a full scholarship to Harvard University, where he completed his degree in government (magna cum laude, 1958) and juris doctor (J.D.) degree from Harvard Law School (1961). Ann Weaver Hart
Ann Weaver Hart (born 1948) is the 21st, first female chief executive and former president of the University of Arizona. She is the first woman to hold the position, which she assumed on November 30, 2012. Previously, Hart was the ninth president and first female chief executive of Temple University in Philadelphia, a position she held beginning on July 1, 2006. Thomas Bonner
Thomas Neville Bonner (28 May 1923 – 2 September 2003) was professor emeritus at Wayne State University and a leading historian of medicine. Bonner was the twelfth President of the University of New Hampshire from 1971 to 1974. After 3 years at UNH he became the fifteenth president of Union College from 1974 to 1978. He then became the seventh president of Wayne State University from 1978 to 1982. Bonner was a U.S. Army World War II veteran as part of the Army Signal Intelligence Unit in Europe. He is buried at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix, Arizona. David Adamany Undergraduate Library (UGL) is one of Wayne State University’s largest libraries built in 1997 named after the university's 8th president, David Adamany. Introduction The David Adamany Undergraduate Library alone provides 2,337 seats, 27 group study rooms, and 3 instruction labs. It has over 500 computer workstations providing students with access to electronic resources. The learning needs of 1000 and 2000 level undergraduate courses are intended to be supported with the wide variety of books and magazines. The library also contains the DeRoy Extended Study Center providing 24-hour access to 140 standard workstations as well as 30 high-end work stations with specialized software. Also, approximately 8000 videos, DVDs, laser discs and audiotapes are in the media collection.
