David's Midnight Magic
''David's Midnight Magic'' is a pinball simulation video game written by David Snider for the Apple II and published by Broderbund in 1982. The game was published in Europe by Ariolasoft. A port to the Atari 8-bit family was released the same year, then the Commodore 64 in 1983. In 1987 Atari Corporation published a cartridge in the styling of the then-new Atari XEGS. Gameplay ''David's Midnight Magic'' is closely modeled after the popular real-life pinball table ''Black Knight'', released by Williams in 1980. Reception '' Softline'' stated that ''David's Midnight Magic'' "ratifies Bill Budge's extraordinary program as a programming tour de force", as it was only equal to Budge's '' Raster Blaster'' despite being released nine months later. Broderbund Software, Inc. (stylized as Brøderbund) was an American maker of video games, educational software, and productivity tools. Broderbund is best known for the 8-bit video game hits ''Choplifter'', ''Lode Runner'', ''Karateka'', and ''Prince of Persia'' (all of which originated on the Apple II), as well as ''The Print Shop''—originally for printing signs and banners on dot matrix printers—and the ''Myst'' and ''Carmen Sandiego'' games. The company was founded in Eugene, Oregon, and moved to San Rafael, California, then later to Novato, California. Brøderbund was purchased by SoftKey in 1998. Write protection is any physical mechanism that prevents writing, modifying, or erasing data on a device. Visual Pinball is a freeware and source available video game engine for pinball tables and similar games such as pachinko machines. The software is composed of an editor and the simulator part itself. It runs on Microsoft Windows. The program is also able to operate with Visual PinMAME, an emulator for ROM images from real pinball machines. A huge variety of user-created Visual Pinball tables are available on the internet. Midnight Magic (Atari 2600)
''Midnight Magic'' is a pinball video game written by Glenn Axworthy for the Atari 2600 and released by Atari Corporation in 1986, although on-screen it displays a copyright of 1984. In spite of licensing the name from Broderbund, the Atari 2600 version of ''Midnight Magic'' uses a completely different table design from ''David's Midnight Magic'', a pinball simulation published for the Apple II in 1982. Gameplay ''Midnight Magic'' uses the CX40 joystick for activating the flippers and shooting the ball. Moving the joystick controller down pulls the pinball machine plunger back while pressing the joystick button shoots the ball into the playfield.
