Dave Mulder
Dave W. Mulder (born February 17, 1939) is an American politician and educator who served as a member of the Iowa Senate for the 2nd District from 2005 to 2009. Early life and education Mulder was born in Alton, Iowa. He received his B.S. from Morningside College and his M.A. and Ed.D. from the University of South Dakota. Mulder also took graduate courses at Oklahoma State University–Stillwater, the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, and the Wisconsin School of Business. Career Mulder has worked as a professor and coach at Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa since 1981. During his tenure in the Iowa Senate, Mulder served on the Senate committee on Agriculture, Economic Growth, Human Resources, and Education committee, where he was the ranking member. Orange City is a city in, and the county seat of, Sioux County, Iowa, United States. Its population was 6,267 in the 2020 census, an increase from 5,582 in 2000. Named after William of Orange, the community maintains its Dutch settler traditions visibly, with Dutch storefront architecture and an annual Tulip Festival. History and culture Orange City was first called Holland and was later renamed in honor of Dutch royalty, the Duke of Orange. Sioux Center is notable for its Dutch heritage, agribusiness, and as the location of Dordt University. Geography Sioux Center is located at (43.076546, −96.173214). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of , all land. Sioux Center is at an elevation of above sea level. It lies near the north-to-south ridge, or spine, of western Iowa. The eastern side of Sioux Center drains to the Floyd River. The western side drains to the Big Sioux River. Scott Kevin Walker (born November 2, 1967) is an American politician who served as the 45th governor of Wisconsin from 2011 to 2019. He is a member of the Republican Party. Born in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Walker was raised in Plainfield, Iowa and in Delavan, Wisconsin. He was elected to the Wisconsin State Assembly in 1992, representing a district in western Milwaukee County. In 2002, Walker was elected Milwaukee County Executive in a special election following the resignation of F. Thomas Ament; he was elected to a full term in 2004 and was re-elected in 2008. The 2008 Iowa Senate election were held on November 4, 2008. The Senate seats for the twenty-five even-numbered districts were up for election. Senate terms are staggered such that half the membership is elected every two years, with each Senators serving a four-year term. Prior to the election, the Democrats were in the majority - marking the first time in 42 years that the Democrats had controlled both branches of the Iowa General Assembly and the Governor's Office.
