Dave Maloney
David Wilfred Maloney (born July 31, 1956) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey Defenceman (ice hockey), defenceman who played eleven seasons in the National Hockey League from 1974–75 NHL season, 1974–75 until 1984–85 NHL season, 1984–85. Playing career Maloney was drafted 14th overall by the New York Rangers in the 1974 NHL amateur draft. He played 657 career NHL games, scoring 71 goals and 246 assists for 317 points, as well as compiling 1154 Penalty (ice hockey), penalty minutes. He was also the youngest player to serve as Captain for the New York Rangers and captained them to the 1979 Stanley Cup Finals. That same year, Maloney, along with Phil Esposito and other Ranger teammates, recorded a song called the Hockey Sock Rock as a fundraiser for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Defenceman (ice Hockey)
Defence or defense (in American English) in ice hockey is a player position that is primarily responsible for preventing the opposing team from scoring. They are often referred to as defencemen, D, D-men or blueliners (the latter a reference to the blue line in ice hockey which represents the boundary of the offensive zone; defencemen generally position themselves along the line to keep the puck in the zone). They were once called cover-point. In regular play, two defencemen complement three forwards and a goaltender on the ice. Steve Patrick
Stephen Gary Patrick (born February 4, 1961) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. He was drafted in the first round, 20th overall, by the Buffalo Sabres in the 1980 NHL Entry Draft. Patrick played 250 games in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Sabres, New York Rangers, and Quebec Nordiques between 1980 and 1986. On December 6, 1984, the Sabres traded Patrick and Jim Wiemer to the New York Rangers in exchange for Chris Renaud and Dave Maloney. His brother is former player and current Winnipeg Ice head coach James Patrick, and their father Stephen Patrick played football for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, and served in the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba. The 2008–09 New York Rangers season was the National Hockey League franchise's 82nd season of play and their 83rd season overall. It saw the Rangers qualify for the playoffs for the fourth consecutive season. The Rangers started the season in Europe; first, as part of the inaugural Victoria Cup being held in Switzerland, the Rangers played an exhibition game against SC Bern on September 30, and then the main game against the 2008 European Champions Metallurg Magnitogorsk on October 1 (the first game between a Russian club and an NHL team since 1991). Kenneth Gary Albert (born February 2, 1968) is an American sportscaster, the son of NBA sportscaster Marv Albert and nephew of sportscasters Al Albert and Steve Albert. He is the only sportscaster who currently does play-by-play for all four major professional sports leagues in the United States and Canada ( NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL). Rick Peckham (born March 1955) is the retired play-by-play broadcaster for the NHL's Tampa Bay Lightning hockey team. Previously, Peckham had served as the play-by-play announcer for the Hartford Whalers from 1984 through 1995. He has also broadcast NHL games on ESPN (1987–88) and SportsChannel America (1988–92). Through 1977–84, he called games on television and radio for the AHL’s Rochester Americans. The ''NHL on SportsChannel America'' was the presentation of National Hockey League broadcasts on the now defunct SportsChannel America cable television network.
