Dave Kincaid
David “Dave” Kincaid (born March 21, 1957) is an American musician who co-founded the Seattle band The Allies, and the New York band The Brandos with Ernie Mendillo in 1985. Besides playing with The Brandos, Kincaid has also released two albums of Irish music under the name David Kincaid. As a musician he has worked with Scott Kempner, Dennis Diken, Simon Kirke, John Whelan, Jerry O'Sullivan and Liz Knowles. The Brandos
The Brandos are an American rock band formed in 1985 in New York City by Dave Kincaid (vocals, guitar), Ernie Mendillo (bass, vocals), Ed Rupprecht (guitar, vocals) and Larry Mason (drums, vocals). The Brandos achieved commercial success in the United States in 1987 with the release of their first album, '' Honor Among Thieves'' and the single "Gettysburg." They have also established a strong fan base in Europe, where they have done promotion and extensive touring since the late 1980s. They have occasionally made it high on the record charts in countries such as the Netherlands. In 2010 the recordings from the 2004 Irish Tour were mixed and the live album David Kincaid and The Brandos - Live in Europe was released on Dec. 1, 2010 and distributed in Europe by Blue Rose. Simon Kirke
Simon Frederick St George Kirke (born 28 July 1949) is an English rock drummer best known as a member of Free and Bad Company. He has been the only continuous member of Bad Company since their inception. Life and career Kirke was born in Lambeth, South London, the son of Olive May ( Pollard) and Vivian Percy Kirke, who married in 1948. Simon's father was from a junior branch of a family of Nottinghamshire landed gentry, and descended on his mother's side from the Gibson-Craig baronets. Kirke spent his early years living in the countryside of Wales. Leaving school at 17, he returned to London and set about finding a drumming job in the booming blues scene. After a fruitless 22 months he was resigned to returning to the country when he met Paul Kossoff who was playing in a band called Black Cat Bones. ''The Irish Volunteer'' is David Kincaid's first album of Civil War related Irish music. For years Kincaid has been the lead singer, lead guitarist, and leading songwriter for the American roots rock band, The Brandos. Kincaid, a long time Civil War enthusiast, assembled a collection of songs written during the Civil War era about Irish American soldiers fighting for the Union. Most of the songs only came with lyrics so Kincaid had to find traditional Irish music to set the lyrics to. Kincaid was devoted to historical accuracy in performing the songs, the pieces are performed only with instruments that would have been available to the people of the period. With the exception of "Free and Green" all the songs were written either before or during the Civil War. The songs praise the Irish immigrant volunteers who fought for the Union, most of the songs mention Thomas Francis Meagher, Michael Corcoran, and the famous Irish Brigade. Jerry O'Sullivan is an American musician. O'Sullivan was born in New York City. As a youngster he learned Great Highland bagpipes. Following a visit to his cousins in Dublin he took up uilleann pipes. He became a member of Green Fields of America in the 1980s, rubbing shoulders with Seamus Egan, Eileen Ivers and Mick Moloney. He has appeared on over 90 albums, including Dolly Parton's '' Heartsongs: Live from Home'', Susan McKeown's ''Bones'', and two albums by Eileen Ivers – ''Wild Blue'' (1996) and ''Crossing the Bridge'' (1999). Dennis Diken (born February 25, 1957) is an American drummer, DJ, author, music historian, and founding member of the band the Smithereens, which he formed in 1980 with Pat DiNizio, Jim Babjak, and Mike Mesaros in Carteret, New Jersey. Besides playing with the Smithereens, Diken is a fill-in DJ on WFMU as well as a liner notes author and reissue project researcher. As a musician, Diken has recorded or toured with, among others, Ronnie Spector, Dave Davies, Nancy Sinatra, Mary Weiss of the Shangri-Las and Ben E. King, and worked with musicians such as Dave Amels and R. Stevie Moore. Diken graduated from Carteret High School in 1975, together with Jim Babjak. Scott "Top Ten" Kempner (born February 6, 1954, Bronx, New York, US) is the American rhythm guitarist with The Dictators since they formed in 1974 (only leaving the band for a few years starting in 2002). He is also a founding member of The Del-Lords and later a member of The Brandos. He released a critically acclaimed solo album in 1992 called '' Tenement Angels''. Kempner contributed "Apache Tears" to the 2007 compilation album ''Song of America''. He released his second solo album, ''Saving Grace'', in July 2008 on 00:02:59 Records.
