Dave Hilton, Sr.
Dave Hilton Sr. (August 29, 1940 – July 2023) was a Canadian professional boxer. He won the Canadian championship in three different weight divisions. Hilton was the father of former super middleweight world champion, Dave Hilton Jr., and light middleweight world champion of boxing, Matthew Hilton. Hilton fought between 1958 and 1976, winning 65 of his 81 fights. As a teenager, he fought as a Featherweight, winning the national championship in 1959. Edmundston is a city in Madawaska County, New Brunswick, Canada. On 1 January 2023, Edmundston will expanded, annexing the village of Rivière-Verte and parts of the local service districts of the parish of Saint-Jacques and the parish of Saint-Joseph. History During the early colonial period, the area was a camping and meeting place of the Maliseet (Wolastoqiyik) Nation during seasonal migrations. From the mid to late eighteenth century, one of the largest Maliseet villages had been established at Madawaska and had become a refuge site for other Wabanaki peoples. The Maliseet village was originally located near the falls at the confluence of the Madawaska and Saint John Rivers. Dave "Davey" Hilton Jr. (born December 9, 1963) is a Canadian former boxing world champion. He is the older brother of former light middleweight world champion of boxing, Matthew Hilton. Professional boxing career He briefly held the WBC super middleweight title after defeating Dingaan Thobela in December 2000, but shortly thereafter, the WBC stripped it from him after child molestation charges were leveled against him. Hilton suffered only two losses in his career, to fellow Canadians Stephane Ouellet, and Alain Bonnamie. He later avenged the loss to Bonnamie, and has previously knocked out Ouellet twice. Matthew Hilton (born December 27, 1965) is a Canadian former boxer who was the IBF Junior Middleweight Champion of the World. He is the younger brother of former super middleweight world champion, Dave Hilton Jr.. He started boxing professionally in early 1983, and while doing so lived (along with his father/trainer and other family members) a nomadic lifestyle, moving from place to place in a 'movable trailer.' Fighting style It was tough growing up for Hilton, but he transferred that toughness to the ring, at least as his career started. Frank Cotroni
Frank Cotroni (born Francesco Cotrone; ; 1931 – 17 August 2004) was an Italian-Canadian crime boss of the Cotroni crime family in Montreal, Quebec. Cotroni was born in 1931, in Montreal. His family, including his brother Vincenzo, had immigrated to Montreal in 1924, from Mammola, Calabria, Italy. His brother founded and headed the Cotroni crime family. Cotroni's principle illicit businesses were drug trafficking and labor racketeering, while he also worked at various times as a restaurateur; boxing promoter; owner of strip clubs in both Montreal and Toronto; ceramic manufacturer; and the owner of a vending machine company.
