Dauphin is a rural municipality in the Parkland Region of Manitoba, Canada. The municipality surrounds the separately administered city of Dauphin, and lies just north of Riding Mountain National Park, part of which extends into the RM. A rural municipality (RM) is a type of incorporated municipality in the Canadian province of Manitoba. Under the province's ''Municipal Act'' of 1997, an area must have a minimum population of 1,000 and a density of less than to incorporate as a rural municipality. Manitoba has 98 RMs, which had a cumulative population of 301,438 as of the 2016 Census. This is a decrease from 116 RMs prior to January 1, 2015, when municipalities with less than 1,000 people were directed by the provincial government to amalgamate with adjoining municipalities to comply with the ''Municipal Act''. Provincial Trunk Highway 20 (PTH 20) is a provincial highway in the Canadian province of Manitoba. It runs from PTH 5 and PR 582 just south of Ochre River to PTH 10 in the village of Cowan. The highway provides an eastern alternative access option to Dauphin along with PTH 20A. The speed limit is 90 km/h (55 mph). PTH 20 is part of the Northern Woods and Water Route. Route description PTH 20 begins by traveling for eight kilometres north through Ochre River to the southwestern edge of Dauphin Lake before turning west toward Dauphin. Provincial Trunk Highway 10 (PTH 10) is a provincial primary highway located in the Canadian province of Manitoba. PTH 10 begins at the International Peace Garden along the Canada–United States border near Boissevain. The highway runs north through Brandon, Dauphin, Swan River, and The Pas to the Saskatchewan boundary at Flin Flon. The speed limit is 100 km/h. PTH 10 is designated as the John Bracken Highway between the International Peace Garden and Riding Mountain National Park, and the Northern Woods and Water Route between Dauphin and The Pas. Provincial Trunk Highway 5 (PTH 5) is a provincial primary highway located in the Canadian province of Manitoba. The highway starts at the Hansboro–Cartwright Border Crossing on the Canada–United States border and ends at the Saskatchewan boundary west of Roblin. Besides Roblin, it passes through the communities of Cartwright, Glenboro, Carberry, Neepawa, McCreary, Ste. Rose Du Lac, Grandview, and Gilbert Plains along its route. The highway, in a section concurrent with PTH 10, bypasses the City of Dauphin. (PTH 5A / 10A does run through Dauphin.) The segment of PTH 5 between PTH 10 and Ste.
