Daughter Of The Mountains – Reyhan (song)
Daughter of the mountains – Reyhan ( az, Dağlar qızı Reyhan) is an Azerbaijani folk song. History According to the legend, the song sings about Reyhan, who defeated the Dashnaks in Gelingaya in Guba. During the March 1918 genocide, the Dashnaks attack an Azerbaijani wedding and kill the groom; the bride runs and hides in the mountains. Later, having gathered a detachment, the bride named Reyhan defeats the Dashnaks. In 1928, she was arrested, however she escaped. Then she lived her life in a monastery under a false name. Performance In 1959, Fikret Amirov composed the music for the poem "Daughter of the mountains - Reyhan". According to one version, the words of the song belong to the poet Talat Eyyubov. In 1960, the song was firstly performed by the People's Artist of the USSR Rashid Behbudov, but the most famous performance belongs to the People's Artist Zeynab Khanlarova. Rashid Behbudov ( az, Rəşid Məcid oğlu Behbudov, Azerbaijani Cyrillic: Рашид Бейбутов; 14 December 1915 – 9 June 1989) was a Soviet and Azerbaijani singer and actor. Rashid Behbudov was born in Tbilisi in 1915. His father, Majid Behbudov, was a singer as well. In 1945, upon the invitation of Tofig Guliyev, Rashid Behbudov moved to Baku. In the same year, he was assigned the main role of Asgar in the film ''Arshin Mal Alan'' ('' The Cloth Peddler''), based on a play by Uzeyir Hajibeyov. His role in this film combined with his vocal skills brought him fame throughout Azerbaijan. In a short time, Behbudov became also prominent Azerbaijani pop singer. His combination of vocal masterpieces ranged from classical performances to lyrical songs. Fikret Mashadi Jamil oghlu Amirov ( az, Fikrət Məşədi Cəmil oğlu Əmirov; November 22, 1922, Ganja – February 20, 1984, Baku) was a prominent Soviet and Azerbaijani composer. Biography Fikret Amirov grew up in an atmosphere of Azerbaijani folk music. His father, Mashadi Jamil Amirov, was a famous mugam singer ("''xanəndə''"), who played tar and composed, including the 1915 opera '' Seyfal mulk''. During his childhood and early adolescence, Fikret began composing pieces for the piano. Upon his graduation from the Ganja Music College, Amirov entered the Azerbaijan State Conservatoire, now known as the Baku Music Academy, where he was a student of Boris Zeidman and Uzeyir Hajibeyov. In 1941, when Nazi Germany attacked the USSR, Amirov, 19 at the time, was drafted to the Soviet army. Biography Zeynab Khanlarova was born on 28 December 1936, in Baku and was the youngest of the family's five children. Inshaatchilar ( az, İnşaatçılar) is a Baku Metro station. It was opened on 31 December 1985. The station is located in Yasamal district under Abbas Mirza Narifzade Street. Its length is 6.4 km. During the wiring of the tunnel, a water breakthrough occurred in the section between Elmler Akademiyasi and Inshaatchylar stations. There was a threat of flooding of neighboring stations, and subsequently the construction of the station had to be carried out according to a new plan.
