''Dastan'' a 1950 Bollywood drama film produced and directed by A. R. Kardar. A box office success, the film became the third highest earning film of 1950, earning an approximate gross of Rs. 1,15,00,000 and net of Rs. 65,00,000 . It stars Raj Kapoor, Suraiya, Veena (actress), Veena, Suresh, Al Nasir, Murad (actor), Murad and Shakila (actress), Shakila. The story, a tragic melodrama, was a narrative in flashback. It was inspired by the film ''Enchantment (1948 film), Enchantment'' (1948), directed by Irving Reis. Madhubala (born Mumtaz Jehan Begum Dehlavi; 14 February 1933 – 23 February 1969) was an Indian actress and producer who worked in Hindi-language films. Mohammed Rafi
Mohammed Rafi (24 December 1924 – 31 July 1980) was an Indian playback singer and musician. He is considered to have been one of the greatest and most influential singers of the Indian subcontinent. Rafi was notable for his versatility and range of voice; his songs varied from fast peppy numbers to patriotic songs, sad numbers to highly romantic songs, qawwalis to ghazals and bhajans to classical songs. Surendra (11 November 1910 – 11 September 1987; Surendra Nath) was an Indian singer-actor of Hindi films. Known by his mononym, Surendra was born and educated in Punjab to be a lawyer by profession. He came to Bombay to become a singer on the recommendation of a Delhi distributor and his friends. He was "picked" by Mehboob Khan whom he met at Sagar Movietone, to sing and act in films as an alternative to the then Calcutta-based singer-actor, K. L. Saigal.
