Konrad Petzold
Konrad Petzold (26 April 1930, Radebeul - 12 November 1999, Kleinmachnow) was a German film director, writer and actor. Biography Born the youngest of six children in a poor family, he was the son of a worker and a housewife. After an internship at the Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (FAMU), he shot his first feature film in Czechoslovakia in 1955, a comedy called ''The Fools Among Us''. His next film was an adventure film, ''A Dog in the Marsh'', which brought him national recognition, especially among young people. However his next movie ''The Dress (1961 film), The Dress'' (1961), based on "The Emperor's New Clothes", was accused of hidden political satire, and he was temporarily dismissed from the profession. In 1969, Petzold shot the first of five "american-indian films". Wolfgang Greese
Wolfgang is a German male given name traditionally popular in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The name is a combination of the Old High German words ''wolf'', meaning "wolf", and ''gang'', meaning "path", "journey", "travel". Besides the regular "wolf", the first element also occurs in Old High German as the combining form "-olf". The earliest reference of the name being used was in the 8th century. East German Films
This is a list, in year order, of the most notable films produced in the Soviet Occupation Zone of Germany and the socialist German Democratic Republic (GDR, East Germany) from 1945 until German Reunification in October 1990. The state owned East German film company DEFA produced about 800 feature films between 1946 and 1992. Besides DEFA, the state broadcaster DFF and the Deutsche Hochschule für Filmkunst (now the Filmuniversität Babelsberg) were the only other organizations in the GDR that produced feature films for cinematic release, although far fewer than DEFA. DEFA also produced about 750 animated movies and more than 2500 documentaries and short films. DEFA feature films are accessible and licensable as part of DEFA's entire film heritage on the PROGRESS archive platform. Hannjo Hasse
Hannjo Hasse (31 August 1921 – 5 February 1983) was an East German actor. Biography Hasse began studying acting in 1938, and attended Lily Ackermann's Institute for Stage Artists' Education in Berlin. At 1941, he was drafted for the Labour Service, and later to the Army. After the end of the Second World War and his release from captivity, Hasse returned to Weimar, where he spent another six months to complete his drama training. He made his debut on stage in the Nordhausen Theater, where he was also employed as a dramaturgue. Later, he also worked in theaters in Eisleben, Burg bei Magdeburg and Schwerin, before settling in the Hans Otto Theater in Potsdam, in which he was a member of the regular cast between 1954 and 1962. Afterwards, he moved to Berlin's Volksbühne, and then to the Deutsches Theater. Hasse played a wide range of supporting characters, from Malvolio to the Fledermaus. Fred Delmare
Werner Vorndran (24 April 1922 – 1 May 2009), known professionally as Fred Delmare, was a German actor. Life and work Werner Vorndran was the son of a carpenter and a seamstress and grew up in Hüttensteinach at Sonneberg in Thuringia, where as an adolescent he appeared on a peasant stage. After his time in the Volksschule he learned the trade of a tool and die maker. As military volunteer he went to the marine in Bremerhaven. At the local municipal theatre he took his first drama lessons with the theatre manager Karl Georg Saebisch 1940 and 1941 and worked as background actor in an operette production. Traudl Kulikowsky
Traudl Kulikowsky (real name: Edeltraud Kulikowski, born 9 December 1943) is a former German film actress. Between the mid-1960s and mid-1970s she took prominent roles in a succession of East German cinema and television films. After refusing, in 1982, to continue acting as an informant for the Stasi she joined the Women for Peace movement in or before 1983. She herself now came under increased levels of Stasi surveillance, and in 1984 the authorities granted her an "Emigration passport". She moved to West Berlin in 1984. Life Edeltraud Kulikowski was born in Litzmannstadt (as it became known between 1939 and 1945). By the time of Kulikowski's birth, in the context of the Second World War, the city had become a German city. Her first employment was in the manufacturing sector, but even at that point she was also participating in stage productions with a workers' theatre company.
