Daryll-Ann
Daryll-Ann was a Dutch rock band stemming from Ermelo, Netherlands. Between 1992 and 2004 the band released six studio albums, plus one live album. Daryll-Ann was the first signing of Dutch label Excelsior Recordings. History Early days (1988–1991) In the summer break of 1988 four high school students – Jelle and Coen Paulusma, Jeroen Vos and Frank van der Bij – decided to form a band. Before long Anne Soldaat joined the fold and rounded out the line-up. They took the name Daryll-Ann, based on a character that appeared in the American television show ''Hill Street Blues''. At this stage the band drew its influences from punk records and songs by The Cure. After the band members graduated from high school, they separately moved to Utrecht and Amsterdam to continue their studies. Still the band managed to record a first EP on the small Kelt label. Noorderslag
Eurosonic Noorderslag is an annual four-day music showcase festival and conference held in January in Groningen, Netherlands. The first three days of the festival (Eurosonic) feature artists from all over Europe, the last day of the festival (Noorderslag) features only Dutch artists. The conference is held during all four days of the event. Do-The-Undo
Do-The-Undo is the solo outfit of Anne Soldaat, former main singer of Daryll-Ann. The band released its self-titled debut record in January 2007 on Excelsior Recordings. Biography When Daryll-Ann dissolved in 2004 its members all went their separate ways. Anne Soldaat, the band’s guitar player, does not waste any time and immediately starts making new music. His first project is for Cat-A-Day Tales, a book on cats that is accompanied by an album. Soldaat writes and sings several songs for the album. The package is released 2004. Throughout 2005 Soldaat coaches the band GEM during the recording sessions of their second album ‘Escapades’, assisting in songwriting. In the meantime he composes new songs for his new solo project, Do-The-Undo. Throughout 2006 Soldaat records with producer Frans Hagenaars. Tim Knol
Tim Knol (born 12 September 1989 in Hoorn) is a Dutch singer-songwriter. Biography Knol was born and raised in Hoorn, where he started making music at the age of 10. Locally, he made an impression with the band ''Be Right Back'' in which he sang and played guitar. While playing in that band, he also worked on various side projects and recorded a couple of solo tracks. In May 2008 he played at ''De avond van het kippenvel'' in Utrecht, where he came in contact with Anne Soldaat, formerly of Daryll-Ann. Together they recorded some demos for Excelsior Recordings. In May 2009 he decided to quit his band, and start a solo career. In June 2009 the first result from his solo career, a cover version of Godley & Creme's Cry, appeared on the online compilation album ''Guilty Pleasures''. The Verve were an English Rock music, rock band formed in Wigan in 1990 by lead vocalist Richard Ashcroft, guitarist Nick McCabe, bass guitarist Simon Jones (musician), Simon Jones and drummer Peter Salisbury. Spinvis
Spinvis is a Dutch one-man music project centred on Erik de Jong (born 2 February 1961, Spijkenisse). Using experimental, lo-fi music, Spinvis has earned two gold records in the Netherlands, and performed sold-out tours in both the Netherlands and Belgium. Biography ''Spinvis'' In 2001, Erik de Jong, or Spinvis, at the age of 40, sent a three-song demo to the Dutch indie label, Excelsior Recordings. Within two weeks, a record deal was signed. The label decided to keep the songs that had been recorded by Spinvis on his home computer. With some minor mixing touch-ups these songs comprised Spinvis' first album, released in the Netherlands on 1 April 2002. Johan is a Dutch band fronted by singer/guitarist Jacco de Greeuw. Their music has been primarily influenced by bands such as The Beatles, Crowded House, and The Byrds. Biography Jacco de Greeuw founded Thank God For Us in the late eighties, after having played in several other bands. The band was renamed Little Mary Big when joined by Marike Groot.
