Paul Drane
Paul Drane is an Australian television producer-director. He was initially known as studio director of the Australian TV pop show ''Countdown'' from 1975 to 1977. During this period, he directed several music videos (promotional film clips) made especially for ''Countdown'', including the original clips for the AC/DC hits " It's a Long Way to the Top" and " Jailbreak". His innovative and award-winning Countdown video for Supernaut's " I Like It Both Ways" gave viewers an early taste of visual effects in music videos. These were achieved without the benefit of (yet to be invented) high-end CGI, but improvised with clever use of video feed-back by pointing the cameras at monitors to create wildly looping, distortion effects. Alan Hopgood
Alan John Hopgood AM (29 September 1934 – 19 March 2022), also known as Alan Hopwood, was an Australian actor, producer, and writer. He wrote the screenplay for the 1972 film ''Alvin Purple'' and made appearances in television shows such as '' Bellbird'', ''Prisoner'' and '' Neighbours''. Early life Hopgood was born in Launceston, Tasmania, and grew up in the state. He acted in several dramatic roles in his childhood. He attended school in Melbourne and then studied at the University of Melbourne, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts (Hon) and a Diploma of Education. His first play, ''Marcus'', was produced at Melbourne University while he was working as a school teacher. He left teaching to write full-time and start his acting career. John Stanton (born 28 October 1944) is an Australian actor. Stanton has appeared in many stage, television and film productions throughout his extensive fifty-year career. Early life Stanton was born in Brisbane, Queensland. He attended Banyo State High School for his secondary education where he was a runner and swimmer. He is the brother of ecologist Peter Stanton. Despite his obvious sporting talents, Stanton was more interested in pursuing acting as a career although he also had a desire to become a veterinarian. Stanton worked various jobs including as a school teacher and as a prawner on Moreton Bay. At the age of 24, he unsuccessfully auditioned for the National Institute of Dramatic Art. The Bombing of Darwin, also known as the Battle of Darwin, on 19 February 1942 was the largest single attack ever mounted by a foreign power on Australia. On that day, 242 Japanese aircraft, in two separate raids, attacked the town, ships in Darwin's harbour and the town's two airfields in an attempt to prevent the Allies from using them as bases to contest the invasion of Timor and Java during World War II. Darwin was lightly defended relative to the size of the attack, and the Japanese inflicted heavy losses upon Allied forces at little cost to themselves. The urban areas of Darwin also suffered some damage from the raids and there were a number of civilian casualties. More than half of Darwin's civilian population left the area permanently, before or immediately after the attack.
