Darryl Wintle
Darryl Wintle (born 7 April 1976) is an Australian rules footballer who played with Adelaide in the Australian Football League (AFL). Wintle trained at the Kangaroos but it was reigning premiers Adelaide who picked him up in the 1999 Pre-Season draft, with the third last selection. He made three appearances, early in the 1999 AFL season, but was delisted at the end of the year. He returned to North Adelaide and in 2002 was appointed club captain. The club finished with the wooden spoon in his second year as captain but he would lead North Adelaide to a grand final in 2007, which they lost to Central District. North Adelaide Football Club
North Adelaide Football Club, nicknamed The Roosters, is an Australian rules football club affiliated with the South Australian National Football League (SANFL) and SANFL Women's League (SANFLW). The club plays its home games at Prospect Oval, located in Prospect, a northern suburb of Adelaide. The club joined the SAFA in 1888 as the Medindie Football Club (nickname Dingoes), changing its name to North Adelaide in 1893. It is the fourth oldest club still in operation in the SANFL after South Adelaide (1877), Port Adelaide (1877) and Norwood (1878). The Adelaide Crows (officially the Adelaide Football Club) are a professional Australian rules football team based in Adelaide, South Australia. Founded in 1990. The Crows has fielded a men's team in the Australian Football League (AFL) since 1991, and a women's team in the AFL Women's (AFLW) competition since 2017. Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Points are scored by kicking the oval ball between the central goal posts (worth six points), or between a central and outer post (worth one point, otherwise known as a "behind"). During general play, players may position themselves anywhere on the field and use any part of their bodies to move the ball. The primary methods are kicking, handballing and running with the ball. Australian Football League
The Australian Football League (AFL) is the only fully professional competition of Australian rules football. Through the AFL Commission, the AFL also serves as the sport's governing body and is responsible for controlling the laws of the game. Originally known as the Victorian Football League (VFL), it was founded in 1896 as a breakaway competition from the Victorian Football Association (VFA), with its inaugural season commencing the following year. North Melbourne Football Club
The North Melbourne Football Club, nicknamed the Kangaroos, is a professional Australian rules football club. The men's team competes in the Australian Football League (AFL), and the women's team in the AFL Women's (AFLW). The Kangaroos also field a reserves men's team in the Victorian Football League (VFL). The 1999 AFL season was the 103rd season of the Australian Football League (AFL), the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Australia, which was known as the Victorian Football League until 1989. Central District Football Club is an Australian rules football club which plays in the South Australian National Football League. Based at Elizabeth in the City of Playford about 25 km to the north of Adelaide, South Australia the club's development zones include the outer Adelaide northern suburbs of Salisbury, Elizabeth, Golden Grove, Greenwith, Township of Gawler, One Tree Hill and Barossa Valley Districts. Ian McKay (footballer)
Ian Lawson McKay (9 March 1923 – 3 April 2010) was an Australian rules footballer who played with North Adelaide in the SANFL. He played a total of 164 games for North Adelaide. Recruited from Sydney club St George where he had played during his war service, McKay joined North Adelaide in 1946 and although he started as a centre half back he played at fullback from 1949 until his retirement. McKay was selected to the South Australian interstate side in his debut season, the first of 14 times that he would represent his state. He won the Magarey Medal in 1950, the first fullback to win the award. He captained North Adelaide for eight seasons and led them to premierships in 1949 and 1952, also captaining South Australia twice. In 2000 he was named North Adelaide Team of The Century captain in a team that included Tom Leahy, Ken Farmer, Barrie Robran, Don Lindner, Darren Jarman and Andrew Jarman. Don Lindner
Donald Lindner (16 February 1935 – 31 December 2008) was an Australian rules footballer who played with North Adelaide in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL). He is the centre half-forward in North Adelaide's official Team of the Century and Hall of Fame, and in 2002 was inducted into the SANFL Hall of Fame. Lindner was renowned for his high marking and by the time he retired in 1970 had played 280 games, kicking 267 goals for North Adelaide. This games total remained a club record until broken by Mike Redden in 1990, while Lindner also played 10 pre-season/night series matches. His greatest achievement was winning the 1967 Magarey Medal, originally losing on a countback, but was awarded it retrospectively when the league decided to give the award to those who had lost on countback in previous years.
