Darrell Lemaire
Darrell Lemaire (August 28, 1926 – January 2019) was an American mining engineer and psychedelic drug researcher. Lemaire was born in Reno, Nevada on August 28, 1926. He died from cancer in January 2019, at the age of 92. Lemaire spent two years in the U.S. Navy (1944-46). He then earned a B.S. in chemistry from the University of Nevada in 1950, followed by his master's in metallurgical engineering from Mackay School of Mines (1954). While working at a Uranium processing plant in Arizona, working closely with Navajo natives, Lemaire discovered peyote, and became intensely interested in manufacturing and testing a variety of psychoactive substances. 2C-D
2C-D (2,5-dimethoxy-4-methylphenethylamine or 2C-M) is a psychedelic drug of the 2C family that is sometimes used as an entheogen. It was first synthesized in 1970 by a team from the Texas Research Institute of Mental Sciences, and its activity was subsequently investigated in humans by Alexander Shulgin. In his book '' PiHKAL'', Shulgin lists the dosage range as being from 20 to 60 mg. Lower doses of 10 mg or less have been explored for microdosing. Not much information is known about the toxicity of 2C-D, as no major studies have been conducted. According to Shulgin, the effects of 2C-D typically last for 4–6 hours. Shulgin himself referred to this substance as a “pharmacological tofu,” meaning that when mixed with other substances, it can extend or potentiate their effects without coloring the experience too much, in a manner similar to how tofu absorbs the flavors of sauces or spices it is cooked with. ''Grindelia'' (gumweed) is a genus of plants native to the Americas belonging to the family Asteraceae. The genus was named for Latvian botanist David Hieronymus Grindel, 1776–1836. They are herbaceous plants or subshrubs with annual, biennial, or perennial life cycles. The flowerheads are composed of numerous yellow disc florets (usually between 100–200) and from zero to sixty or more yellow or orange ray florets.
