Daroga State Park
Daroga State Park is a public recreation area on the Columbia River located north of Orondo at the edge of Washington's Channeled Scablands. The state park has of river shoreline and offers picnicking, camping, boating, fishing, swimming, waterskiing, birdwatching, wildlife viewing, and other athletic facilities. The park is managed by the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission under a lease agreement with the owners, the Chelan County Public Utility District. History The park occupies land that was once part of the agricultural holdings of orchard man Grady Auvil. The name "Daroga" was coined using the names of the Auvil brothers — David, Robert and Grady — and was first applied to the Daroga peach. Douglas County is a county located in the U.S. state of Washington. As of the 2020 census, its population was 42,938. The county seat is Waterville, while its largest settlement is East Wenatchee. Orondo, Washington
Orondo is an unincorporated community in Douglas County, Washington, United States, located alongside the eastern part of the Columbia River. It is part of the Wenatchee–East Wenatchee Metropolitan Statistical Area. The area is well known for its robust agriculture industry, and produce fruits such as apples, cherries and pears. The name was derived from a mythical Great Lake Indian and was first settled in the late 19th century by late Washington politician, John B. Smith. The Washington State Park System is a set of state parks owned by the state government of Washington, USA. They are managed by the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission. There are over 140 parks throughout the state, including 19 marine parks and 11 Historical Parks. The park system was established in 1913 by the creation of the Washington State Board of Park Commissioners. The first two parks were formed from donated land in 1915, and by 1929 the state had seven parks. In 1947 the State Parks Committee was renamed to the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission and given authority to oversee the state park system. Rocky Reach Dam
Rocky Reach Dam is a run-of-the-river hydroelectric dam in the U.S. state of Washington owned and operated by Chelan County Public Utility District. It has 11 generators rated in total 1300 MW. The project is on the Columbia River in north central Washington state about upstream from the city of Wenatchee. The dam is above the mouth of the Columbia. The reservoir impounded by the dam is Lake Entiat. The project provides energy for more than 7 million people throughout the Pacific Northwest. Lake Entiat (also known as Rocky Reach Reservoir) is a reservoir between Chelan County and Douglas County in North Central Washington, USA, that is formed above Rocky Reach Dam (built 1962), a hydroelectric dam on the Columbia River.
