Darling House, Millers Point
Darling House is a heritage-listed seniors living property and former residence located at 8-12 Trinity Avenue, in the inner city Sydney suburb of Millers Point in the City of Sydney local government area of New South Wales, Australia. The property is owned by Dr Shane Moran through his luxury seniors living and aged care group Provectus Care Pty Ltd. It was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999. The Georgian-style Old Colonial sandstone building incorporates parts of an original to dwelling house, the existing sandstone house was constructed in 1842 under the ownership of Joseph Farris. The name of the house, which originated from the local community in the 1800s, is derived from the original land grant by Governor Darling. Darling House Museum
The Darling House Museum is a historic house museum at 1907 Litchfield Turnpike in Woodbridge, Connecticut, and is owned and operated by the Amity & Woodbridge Historical Society. The house is open by appointment and during special events. In the early 1770s, Thomas Darling hired Abiel Gray of West Hartford, Connecticut, to build a new home in Amity Parish, outside of New Haven. Gray took two years (1772–1774) to finish the project. The house has a gambrel roof, is built on a central hall plan and has some unusual features. Paneling and woodwork in the hallway and front rooms are richly detailed under 9-foot, 3-inch ceilings. The Jay Norwood and Genevieve Pendleton Darling House is an historic building located in Des Moines, Iowa, United States. The residence was the home of cartoonist Ding Darling, who worked for ''The Des Moines Register'' and whose cartoons were syndicated in over 100 newspapers across the country. with In the early 1930s, he became involved in the conservation movement, especially wildlife conservation. His advocacy was reflected in his cartoons. Part of his conservation legacy in Iowa is the Cooperative Wildlife Research Unit program that he initiated at Iowa State College and the expansion of the research facilities at Iowa Lakeside Laboratory. The house sits behind Terrace Hill, the residence of Iowa's Governors. The Darlings did not build the house, but they did make some changes when they owned it.
