''Darkside of the Sun'' is the second compilation album by German rock band Tokio Hotel, released exclusively in Japan. It was released February 2, 2011 after the success of the song "Darkside of the Sun" in Japan. The band won Best Rock Video at 2011 MTV Video Music Aid Japan for it and performed live at the ceremony. The album is composed of songs from their studio albums ''Scream'' (2007) and '' Humanoid'' (2009). Tokio Hotel is a German pop rock band, founded in 2001 by singer Bill Kaulitz, guitarist Tom Kaulitz, drummer Gustav Schäfer, and bassist Georg Listing. ''Scream'', known as ''Room 483'' in Germany, is the debut English studio album and the third overall studio album by German band Tokio Hotel, contains English versions of songs from two of their previous albums: ''Schrei'' and ''Zimmer 483''. Eight of the twelve songs come from ''Zimmer 483'' while the remaining four originated from ''Schrei''. The name ''Scream'' is the English translation of the name of the first Tokio Hotel album, ''Schrei''. "Schrei" and "Scream" are rock songs by German pop rock band Tokio Hotel. The German version of the song, "Schrei", was released as the second single from the band's debut album '' Schrei'' and is also the album's opening track. An English version of the song called "Scream" was later included in their first English album '' Scream'' and released as their fourth English single in 2007. Music video The music video for "Schrei" takes place in a house packed with people, apparently having a party. The band, set up in the living room, begins playing as lead singer Bill Kaulitz makes his way through the crowd. Bill Kaulitz (born 1 September 1989), also known Mononymous person, mononymously as Billy for his solo act, is a German singer and songwriter. He is best known for his work as the lead singer of pop rock band Tokio Hotel. Early life Bill Kaulitz was born on 1 September 1989 in Leipzig, East Germany. He has an identical twin brother, Tom, who is older by ten minutes. His parents, Simone Kaulitz and Jörg W., separated when Kaulitz was seven years old. Simone married Gordon Trümper, the guitarist from German rock band Fatun on 1 August 2009, after dating for 12 years. Kaulitz showed an early interest in singing, as did Tom in playing guitar. The 2011 MTV Video Music Aid Japan were held in Chiba on June 25, 2011 at the Makuhari Messe. The VMAJ were the culmination of MTV Japan's Music of Hope campaign, the channel's multiplatform response to the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami.
