Dark Rift
''Dark Rift'' is a 3D fighting video game for the Nintendo 64, notable for being the first N64 game to use 60 frames per second. It has been referred to as the Nintendo 64's first native fighting game, though it originally started out as a Sega Saturn game. In addition, it was originally announced that the Microsoft Windows version of the game would precede the Nintendo 64 version by one month. It was originally announced under the title "Criticom II", and is the second of three fighting games developed by Kronos Digital, falling between '' Criticom'' and ''Cardinal Syn''. Gameplay Players choose from eight playable characters to start; there are also two hidden characters which are unlocked by completing the game in single-player mode. Fights go for a default three-out-of-five rounds, as opposed to the more conventional two-out-of-three. Plot ''Dark Rift'' takes place far in the future, sometime after the events of '' Criticom''. Kronos Digital Entertainment
Kronos Digital Entertainment was an American computer animated, computer animation and video game developer founded by Stan Liu in 1992. They first began to develop original properties, beginning with their visually appealing early 3D graphics, 3D fighting games, ''Criticom'', ''Dark Rift'' and ''Cardinal Syn'' (referred to as the "Trilogy of Terror" by one gaming journalist). The organization later gained greater critical and commercial success for the ''Fear Effect'' series with Eidos Interactive, Eidos, although Kronos retained all rights to the franchise. Kronos was busy developing the third installment in that series, ''Fear Effect Inferno'', when publisher Eidos discontinued funding for the project following a major restructuring of their budget. The developer then shopped it around to other publishers but were unable to secure another deal to get the game finished.
