Górnośląski Klub Sportowy (GKS) Tychy is a Polish ice hockey team from Tychy which current plays in the Polska Hokej Liga, the highest professional ice hockey league in the country. The club was founded April 20, 1971. GKS Tychy is a four-time Polish champion - 2005, 2015, 2018 and 2019. The club has also won eight Polish Cup titles, in 2001, 2006-2009, 2014, 2016 and 2017, making them the first Polish team to win the Cup three years in a row and to have nerver lost a Polish Cup final. GKS Katowice (; GKS stands for , ) is a Polish professional football (soccer), football club based in Katowice. The club currently plays in the I liga (as of 2022–23). History In 1963 in Katowice a special organizational committee was called with the purpose of uniting all the clubs and sporting organizations of the city into one large club which would encompass many disciplines. In mid-1963 Rapid Wełnowiec and Orzeł Wełnowiec merged, creating Rapid/Orzeł. GKS Katowice is a professional ice hockey team in Katowice, Poland. The team was founded in 1964. GKS Katowice won six Polska Liga Hokejowa titles between 1958 and 1970. From 2017 to 2019 the name of the club was changed to Tauron KH GKS Katowice, due to sponsorship by Tauron Group.
